What is Acidic Water?
Acidic water means your water has
a pH balance of less than 7.0 and will actually eat away
at your plumbing, as well as causing copper pipe = blue and
green staining and galvanized pipe causing red staining from
iron leaching out of pipes.
What is Calcite?
Calcite is a naturally occurring
calcium carbonate media. One of the advantages
of Calcite is its self-limiting property.
When properly applied, it corrects pH
only enough to reach a non-corrosive
equilibrium. It does not overcorrect under
normal conditions. Upon contact with
Calcite, acidic waters slowly dissolve the
calcium carbonate to raise the pH which
reduces the potential leaching of copper,
lead and other metals found in typical
plumbing systems. Periodic backwashing
will prevent packing, reclassify the
bed and maintain high service rates.
Depending on pH, water chemistry and
service flow, the Calcite bed will have to
be periodically replenished as the Calcite
is depleted. |

Fleck Acid Rust Filter
using calcite limestone as media to raise
the pH balance to above 7.0. This system can
also be used to remove red water iron as well
as raise the pH at the same time. Works with
pH balances as low as 5.0.
All our tanks are
Structural tanks with Dome holes, so adding
the Calcite to it is easy. Tanks are also transparent
so you can see calcite level in tank by shining
a flash light on it. When tank calcite level
is 1/2 full it's time to add one bag.
System
has a 5600 Fleck automatic backwash valve
to backwash calcite clean automatically as
needed, easy to set timer and days of regeneration. |
