This is a great product and a great company to support. I will be buying more of these as Christmas gifts!
Thalia W
The water was crisp and cold, and I didn't have to worry about getting sick. It was so delicious.
Ingrid M
My husband and I purchased these when we traveled to Ecuador. We used these with peace of mind drinking from the tap everywhere in the cities, countryside, and mountains. I love waterbottles and I must say that this is my least favorite drinking experience. And rightfully so, it's filtering with every drink. The water bottles also don't hold a ton so you have to fill them up more than I'm used to.
Yadiel P
Ive filled this thing hundreds of times, and I dont find that the resistance of the filter is getting much worse. So hopefully it has a lot of life in it. I'm going on 5 months on the original filter.
Van M
I got my bottle with the purpose of drinking potable water through the straw as well as the occasional trail stream when hiking. So far I love it!
Peters S.
This water bottle is AMAZING! I hunt and camp regularly, as long as I have this on my backpack and have a source of running water I NEVER go thirsty. I have spent 7 days in the mountains with this bottle as my only means of drinking water and it worked flawlessly. Really helps taking any bad taste out and I never once got sick from any bacteria. I have a lifestraw as well but the lifestraw bottle is so much more convenient. Wether youre a hunter, hiker, prepper or weekend warrior, this is a must have!
Fabian B
Like many Latin America countries, Cuba advises that you do not drink tap water and only consume bottled water while traveling. Prior to my trip, I decided to buy a LifeStraw water bottle as I didn't know if I would find myself in areas where water was difficult to purchase. While bottled water was readily available during my travels, buying this water bottle saved my fiance, her brother, and I at least $100.00 over the 6 day trip.
Zachery S
I am going on a research trip around the world for a few months and need a safe reliable source for clean water, and here it is. Plus, for each bottle purchased a child is given a year of fresh water! I'll be sure to post an update after my excursion! But so far, I'm in love.
Edwin L
I would take the top off, dip the bottle in the water, put the cap back on and keep moving. It is really easy. You do have to suck the water out, it wont just flow out, but I knew that going in. This works more in conjunction with an inline squeeze filter if you are out camping, you wont use it to get water to cook with or fill up a bladder, this is a drinking bottle. For my needs, this was a perfect fit.
Chandler N
I am in Tulum Mexico 5 days into a 12 day trip around the peninsula and had to write this review to say the Lifestraw is amazing!
Deacon F
I get that lifestraw is made for more heavy duty hiking/life survival/camping stuff. But, I bought these for a simple trip to Mexico - hoping to save some $$ on water bottles and avoid montezuma's revenge.
Chloe B
Water tastes crisp, clean and fresh!
Isabelle G
Had no issues whatsoever and could drink the water directly from the tap by filtering with these. The flavor is SUPERB. I'd rather drink from these all the time instead of bottled or filtered water. However, its too expensive to do that. Save it for when its really needed.
Braydon D
There is a brief learning period to drinking from this straw, but it is not difficult -- the key is gentle suction. I would not recommend this bottle if you plan to use it when you may be extremely parched or if you tend to always drink voraciously.
Robin B
Great price and this makes more sense than just getting the LifeStraw. Bought for emergency use but will try with my yukky water at work. Wahed everything but shouldnt have rinsed the part with the white filter.
Pedro N
Love this company and I am so happy with my purchase!! Clean water is very important to me so I always want to make sure I am filtering what I'm drinking.
Jerry O
I used this LifeStraw when I took a trip to West Africa this summer. Although there is plenty of available bottled drinking water to purchase, I decided that I did not want to use the water I actually wanted to drink for also brushing my teeth.
Deacon S
Love this water bottle for hiking and out of country adventures!
Yasmine V
The filter is a bit expensive, and the carbon filters for the top stage only last for 100 bottles, but the filters themselves filter bacteria and viruses up to 99% for 1000 bottles. All in all, great product
Rodrigo T
I loved having these on our Costa Rica trip! While we typically filled them with water from our villa I actually got bored with never being able to use/test them so I poured out my clean water and filled it with river water!
Andrew N.
I havent tried the straw on any unsafe water yet, but I did try it with my fossit water that normally tastes like drainage from the hot tub of the cast of pawn stars and amazingly enough the straw made it taste like normal water again.
Annalise O
I personally; think this would be a good product for emergency usage for hurricane alley
Braydon D
I do not travel without it. I had the old style and every sip tasted like plastic. The new 2-Stage filter completely remedies this problem.
Russell D
My bottle lived in the water bottle pocket of my backpack for a month of travel and the top got dirty from dust, rain, bumping up against things, etc. It didn't feel very sanitary to drink from it by putting my mouth on a dirty straw. A cap to keep the straw and lid clean would really be appreciated.
Harper L
Took these on a trip to Cuba. They were a asset to the trip. We drank bottled water while there as advertised. On one trip the bottled water just didnt taste right to me and had a gassy smell. The bottles were new never opened. Im not sure if theyd been exposed to extreme heat or to much direct sun. I filled my life straw bottle up and I was amazed at the taste. It was 100% drinkable no bad taste at all. I have a deep water well at home and it taste as good as if I were home. I cant stand the taste of chlorine in water it removes that as well. Never leave home without it especially if going outside the USA.
Sawyer G
I love life straws and I love this water bottle for hiking because I like to be able to fill my water bottle in a stream or a lake or a puddle.
Alexander K.
Well, I didn't get sick in a 3rd world country. That's the biggest concern! However, there's a few things I would improve. First, the bottles are heavy. I suppose that's due to the life-saving filter. My other gripe was how difficult it was to suck water out. Again, this is probably due to the filter, but it really started to drive me crazy by the end of my trip. All in all, I'm grateful for how wonderful this was at filtering tap water in a location where finding bottled water was difficult. I wouldn't use this daily at home, but it saved us when we needed water.
Jr O
This makes all water taste absolutely fantastic not to mention safe to drink.
Micaela W
I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift for an upcoming trip overseas. First, it was a huge hit because he said it was such a thoughtful gift for me wanting to keep him safe. So theres that. For functionality, this is a great item. It filters out harmful elements and allows you to drink water and other liquids with peace of mind.
Ward J.
I'd highly recommend these bottles. We never once got sick drinking water from faucets.
Arthur A.
Dont listen to those reviews of it being hard to suck water out. Its a filter so you have to suck a little bit harder to move the water through the filter system. Its not that hard.
Kathryn B.
The bottle is large and a little heavy, so keep that in mind in how your will be carrying or using.
Easton W
Worth your health, gives peace of mind, and its portable! Win win win!
Janna H
I purchased two of these bottles for a father son backpacking trip to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. They worked wonderfully. We were able to get water from creeks and both lakes we visited.
Mohamed H
I have not had the problem others have had with resistance to drawing water through the straw, but I am a more patient drinker, maybe. Cleaning was a concern for me after drinking brackish (ocean-ish) water, but it hasn't seemed to affect the membrane or carbon filter.
Drew V
Very effective. I would get this item again.
Lesley Q
Recent trip to South America and my Lifestraw saved me! I drink a lot of water and found that I could fill up my bottle in my hotel room in Chile, and it tasted great! I even filtered the bottled water in Buenos Aires to assure I would not get sick. Everyone was impressed with my Lifestraw, and I recommended it to everyone! Even the locals wanted to know how to get one!
Lea A
Safe, clean drinking water
Joel O
I work overseas and I find this a great way to stay healthy. Water where I am is not safe and this gives me a higher level of confidence. I'm not a fan the attached clip, but it can be removed. I also like the dark green color as it doesn't stand out too much. An integrated water filter is much more convenient that a stupid pump when I'm in a hurry.
Lynch E.
Its pink - my wife
She likes pink so she probably would have been satisfied with a red solo cup and a can of pink spray paint, but this way her water is filtered which should keep her more healthy and lower my healthcare costs.
Harris G.
The bottle seems sturdy enough so far and although I haven't smashed it against anything, I did gently knock it around with no damage. I plan to use it daily to drink from the mountain streams out here in the Sierra Nevada mountains over the next few weeks and update this review as I go.
Priscilla A
We tested them (after removing the clear plastic wrapper from the mouthpiece; do people really not know you need to remove this wrapping!? Seemed obvious). Great suction; like any other bottle. The seals around the lid are very tight. No leaking. Great taste. Will update when we return!
Lila M
My son took his to an area in Mexico where no one drinks the water. He did and never got sick! Thanks Lifestraw, for a great product!
Cheryl E.
This is an easier alternative to the Life Straw in my opinion. Its easier to carry around and more professional looking if you needed it for a trip. Great product. Keeping people safe is always a plus.
Martha O
We collected water from a waterfall while hiking and the resulting drinks were clean, flavorless, and didn't make us ill. You can drink fairly rapidly despite having to suction the water through all the filaments. The carabiner makes it easy to clip anywhere I want to carry it.
Carl P.
I really like it, but I got it for international travel and I'm disappointed that there is no cap to cover the straw part to keep it clean.
Richard F.
Favorite Purchase All Time
Jazmin H
Works perfectly fine once everything is set up
And filtered through, used it in the wilderness when I went to fast for 3 days and 3 nights
Yael T
Absolutely love these bottle, definetly recommend
Josh B
Used for last 4 months in Costa Rica : mostly in urban area where water sources are "generally" safe but also used for several trips to various beaches and undeveloped wildlife areas.
Not one time in 4 months' use did I feel ill, the water always tastes great regardless of the source. The bottle size is big enough that I am not constantly refilling but small enough to pack along on any trip.
Maybe the water was always safe to drink....but maybe not. The peace of mind was well worth the cost AND no plastic bottles went into the trash!
Bailey J
Drinking from it, you do have to ... suck... quite a bit. But honestly, its not that big an issue. You get used to it.
Anabella G
Youll save money in the long run, and will be doing yourself a massive favor of never going without clean water.
Addison F
I am so thankful that I had the sense to order Lifestraw Go. Theres no time to be ill , if you have a busy itinerary. Lifestraw will give you peace of mind
Hassan Y
I used this for international travel, filled it with the contaminated tap water and did not get sick. It does take quite awhile for the filter to become saturated enough to easily drink out of it, but that is stated on the instructions that come with the bottle. I was worried about buying this bc of all the bad reviews. However, I wonder if those writing the bad reviews didn't bother reading the instructions. The longer I used it, easier it was to use. I would highly recommend this bottle for travel anywhere that potable water isn't readily available.
Mariana J
You do have to use a decent amount of suction to get the straw to work, but it is easier than drinking a thick milkshake. The bottle did drip a teeny bit occasionally, so you do want to store it upright when full.
Mayra J
It was so much easier and way less wasteful than having to find bottled water everywhere. The filter won't improve taste at all, so don't expect pure-tasting spring water, but it will keep you from getting sick. It is also requires more suction to drink from than a non-filter straw bottle--remember that you are literally forcing the water through a filter.
Miley G
Would be nice to have a 1 liter bottle size option (to match up with water treatment tablets proportions., most of which are sized for one or two liters of water.) Pricey, but fair value considering the convenience.
Chelsey I
This bottle worked as promised. No leaks as some noted and water sucked up just fine when first used. There was a low level whistling sound that accompanied sucking water through the straw, but nothing that would keep me from using the bottle
Gemma A
I did take mine to Mexico and India, but never used it to drink tap water (too scared). I used it with either local bottled water or filtered water. I even use it with the water fountains at the US airports.
Naima C
I purchased both the lifestraw and the Grayl. I purchased the Grayl filter water for washing produce and for drinking with my vitamins and probiotics (difficult to swallow tablets when sipping hard on a straw) but the Lifestraw is the one I am using on my day tripping.
Amari E
BEST filtered water bottle you can get!
Cassidy C
Excellent water bottle!
Wise J.
The only thing that could be improved is that it's a little hard to drink out of (you have to suck hard). Overall, I like this bottle and would recommend it for traveling and hiking!
Caroline Y
These are sooooo helpful for the traveler, student, or professional on the go.
Lucille W
All in all the filter works great and tastes just like bottled water, however, the first few drinks taste oddly like iodine.
Cooper R.
Makes bad water perfect for drinking a must have
Rayne P
I noticed mixed reviews about how easy it is to suck the water up the straw. Some users say it's not so bad, others say it is very difficult.
When I received my bottle, I fell into the latter category. My face hurt after a few sips.
If you remove the carbon filter at the top altogether, the straw is very easy to draw water through. If you have a straw that is difficult to draw through, you can try the following small rework to see if it helps you. For me, it made it bearable to use the straw with carbon filter installed, after this small adjustment.
Instruction:
1. Remove the carbon filter from the top of the straw
2. Pry open the plastic casing with finger nail
3. If you can see the seam on the top of the plastic casing (this reduces the surface area for water to pass through), gentle remove the carbon bag
4. Re-position the bag with seams along the cylindrical wall of the plastic casing
5. Gently push and wiggle the bag back into the casing, and replace the cap
6. Put the carbon filter back into the straw and check to see if easier to draw water through the straw
Kaden O
Water taste great. It is currently on desk because after experiencing the taste while traveling I had to have it at work as well. It is pricey but well worth it. You can TASTE the difference.
Carlee W
The instructions are very clear as to how to use the bottle. The only issue I found was with altitude changes the bottle does leak and if you have water in the bottle and you try to drink it on the airplane, it will come flying out of the top due to the pressure.
Carolyn S.
They aren't cheap, but man are they worth every cent! I paid for the bottle in two weeks by not having to purchase bottled water at a university
Regina N
We recently bought two of these for a month-long trip to Central America, and we were very glad we had them.
I don't know if another manufacturer makes a comparable product for less, but these work well. Our complaints:
1. They are expensive;
2. Different colors have different prices;
3. They only hold 600 ml.
Alfredo L
It's not like drinking from an ordinary straw, some suction is required to get the water moving, but not so much as to complain about as some reviewers have done (read the instructions and keep your filter clean, so problems don't arise!) Convenient replaceable charcoal filter capsules.
Chance K
So at first I was very nervous about how well this was going to work. After being on the river in the middle of bfe with no one around for 4 days I can proudly say they work very well. After drinking the water from the river with this bottle I didn't have any symptoms appear. I highly recommend to get this product.

Great when you need it, but not for daily use

We have since taken them to races and camping trips and I am always the one to put them to the test and they always works great!!
Cortez V
This is a super idea - why'd it take them so long to get this act on the shelves? The Life straw has been a great release for camping, backwoodsing, hiking, and so on, for some time now. This is the citified version. Zero Waste!
Casey H
I take it to any restaurant and fill it with the water they give me with no concerns about whether its filtered or tap water - the best thing is that I can put the ice in it too!
Vinnie E
Bought for a trip to Brazil/Argentina and it was perfect. Never got the slightest upset stomach or worry with water sources (and I usually filled up in less than stellar bathrooms). It was 100 most days and I constantly was able to have water access to keep hydrated and feeling great (even with being prone to heat exhaustion).
Efren A
Ok saw complaints about hard to suck out of. When you remove water from a cavity air needs to replace it or you get suction, and its hard to drink. On the lid there is a small rubber seal with a cone shaped top. You need to push down on the rubber cone to open airflow into the cavity/ (water bottle). This design is in place because you dont want water to fall out, but when drinking you want to let air in. In my opinion this is a poor design but I can get it to work and I am happy with the product overall. Whatevs I drink out of coffee thermoses that operate under the same principle and function better. But Im not not an engineer, I didnt go to college, what do I know.

Good for Backpacking
Rayne I
Probably the best purchase Ive made on amazon. Im really not just saying this. Before trying this waterbottle out, I just drank water whenever it seemed necessary or like sometimes I would go on a kick and chug a bottle or so. But now, I never really have to worry about my water tasting disgusting or having horrible things in it. I just fill it up with faucet, sink, water fountain, and sometimes water bottles, just to make sure its filtered and its so much easier. I drink water about twice as often as I did and am seeing some pretty good results. My skin is clearing up a lot and so are my stress levels along with it. and now I wont look like a fool crinkling a plastic waterbottle in class
Alexandria G
Great for the trail or emergency prep
Princess V
I like to drink a lot of water - we planned a lot of sight seeing and one day of hiking. We didnt stay in a resort - filled the water bottles from our bathroom sink and various water fountains.
Casey N
So to start off there is a plastic cover on the mouth piece that took me a hot minute to get off but after that I love this! Ive tried so many different filter bottles before and just hated them but this one is leak proof, actually tastes like clean water and I really like that the mouth peice is soft plastic Im hoping that means I can take it off and clean it better. I went back and forth on if I should buy this bottle that was a little more expensive or chance it with a cheaper one. At the end of the day Im so glad I got this one because I dont have to worry on my trip or when Im working out or or just plan working I know itll not leak and will taste the way water should
Tatiana L
I like this bottle a lot, and I really want to love it, but it's leaked constantly since I first got it. This bottle has literally saved my life, so I don't want to complain *too* much, but I've had such a hard time dealing with it leaking that I've actually given up.
Ella U
Cleaning is easy, throw it all in the dishwasher.
Jorden A
I bought this for my girlfriend because she is a regular world traveler and some times she goes places with questionable water. During her trip she would tell me how convenient is was to have the LifeStraw Go. She said people would ask her about it on her travels around the world. Needless to say she absolutely loved traveling with this, and I can't recommend this enough to other people looking for a great gift.
Reagan L
this is a decent-looking, medium sized water bottle with filtration that keep me illness-free
Eugene L
I will say, this will absolutely leak IF you dont blow the water back out of the filters like the directions say. Id forgotten, leaked a little, proceeded to blow till my breath flowed more easily through it and didnt have anymore issues with leaking.
Louis E
Its peace of mind if you travel and the water isnt clean you just put their water in it, and it filters it for your safety!
Livia G
ought this because I didn't know how good the water was in the country we were moving to, and wanted something I could most definitely use while on a long hike, away from potable water. This bottle fit the bill and then some.
Billy G.
I don't find it difficult to drink from, but the amount of effort required for drinking definitely took a little getting used to. I have also used it on hikes in the US and it is very handy! So much easier than carrying a separate filter.
Margaret D
No problems. I followed the instructions that were quite easy. Rinse the filter under the tap well, then the water may initially taste a little different but, that goes away. Saved us a ton from having to purchase water and we never got sick. That is huge. Out bottles never leaked. Highly recommend.
Emilia P
The LifeStraw filter system is one of very few that removes mycobacterium from drinking water. I've recently been diagnosed with mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) lung infection, and this bottle has become a critical part of the tools I now use to keep my exposure to the bacteria as close to zero as possible. It's easy to fill, easy to clean, easy to use. I take it to restaurants and just dump their water into it, and no more worries about contaminated water or ice. Not everybody is at risk from MAC infection, but if even if you're not, why drink it if you can avoid it? So glad to have found this bottle!
Harmony U
when I need a traditional/standard water bottle I can pop out the LifeStraw and drink the water straight up.
Maleah C
Hard to suck but overall great
Hugh M
It was nice to just dip the container in the lake and throw the lid on and drink.
Jose F.
A must by for traveling to different countries
