The Fleck 2510 Greensand Iron Filters with auto backwash control valve, is a premium iron filter that effectively removes high levels of iron, sulfur, and manganese that are frequently found dissolved in water. These dissolved metals (iron and manganese) stains appliances, laundry, plumbing, etc. by oxidizing (rusting).

After having a green sand filtration system in operation for several months, I can safely say that it has made a drastic difference with our household's hard water issues. As new homeowners, my wife and I were very off-put when we initially realized how hard the well water was in our home... We had heavy iron stains in basins and piping and an overwhelming sulfuric odor wherever water was running. After replacing the magnesium anode rod in the hot water heater with an aluminum one a college had suggested that we look into adding a green sand filter to our water treatment. Since adding a green sand filter, we no longer have staining and the odors have been over 90% eliminated. If you live in FL like me and you are in well, do yourself a favor and dont trow away money in Ro osmosis filter, you dont need that for shower, just under the sink is fine.. Get this instead to take out all the smell and make sure to install it before the softener.

This is an excellent filtration system for Sulfur. I can't speak for Iron as I don't have issues with excessive Iron. Simple to install. It works very very well. After installation there isn't even a HINT of rotten egg smell in the water. The controller actually comes pre-programmed. The only setting necessary is to set the time. When I installed it, I flushed the tank before connecting it to the rest of my filtration system. Easy. Filled the tank slowly with the outlet line disconnected, and ran water through until it became clear. That eliminated almost all of the trapped air and got rid of the normal gravel and filter media dust. I would highly recommend this filter system. DO have your water tested to ascertain the levels of Iron and Sulfur.All in all I highly recommend this Iron and Sulfur filter. And the seller is a joy to deal with if you have a question. There are different media types that are used to remove a specific range of Iron and/or Sulfur.All in all I highly recommend this Iron and Sulfur filter. Once I received and installed the new filter, my water turned CLEAN! I immediately noticed the difference in smell and taste; after 3 days nothing was turning brown or staining. I even watered my lawn which is a bit over an acre and the water coming out was still fresh afterwards. After programming the time, I left the rest at the default programming and that seems to work just fine having the regeneration at 3 day intervals.

Mine works great after reprogramming. Removes 12ppm iron. It shipped with Filox as the media. The seller either didn't program it correctly or not at all so it didn't work at first. That didn't bother me, I am familiar with these systems, so I set the correct parameters, then it worked great. I programmed mine to backwash every night which should help give the Filox a long lifespan, and give a fresh air pocket to the filter which makes the water taste better. My background; I work for a plumber and our supply house sells us WaterSoft brand filters. I went with this because it is hundreds of dollars cheaper, and in my own house. I think it is a more simple and better design, and much easier to service. Also, to prevent condensation, wrap the tank with Reflectix bubble insulation.

Did lots of research before buying this unit over a year ago for my new cabin. The water that skips the filters (3 large) to the outdoor hydrant comes out very orange with rust. After this unit crystal clear. We are at times able to taste the iron but if we drink out of the refrigerator (charcoal filter for icemaker/water dispenser) never a hint. After weeks of having the water sit in the toilet bowls you will have some color in the water but I tell you this thing does way better than I could have hoped with zero maintenance. We already had soft water or I would have went with a water softener type but glad we did not need one for all the salt they require. Would without a doubt buy one again and have convinced all my neighbors to get one.

This thing is not an appliance, it is a sacrament! Living in West Central Florida and having a fairly shallow well, my water untreated is full of calcium, Limestone, and hydrogen sulfide creating bacteria. Buying water filtration especially for sulfur can be confusing. We occasionally had a sulfur odor during the summer, but once it got cold out it became constant. I assume while the sprinklers were on enough water went through the well so no build up. Winter I have them off and constant odor both hot and cold. Did a lot of research and this seemed to be a good choice. Came in two packages which was good as it split the weight for installation. You could not ask for a better set of instructions, each step was linked to a picture, no chineasium interpretations! Been in for a little over a month, Zero odor since day one. Hopefully in for many worry free years. Would recommend.
