For the first week, the eater tasted real bad. A plastic taste. Now everything is fine. One down side, there was no set-up instructions sent. Nothing to show how long to rinse the tank before using it the first time, and no instructions on how te clean it when needed.

When I checked the water hardness before installing, the TDS was 462 ppm which is very dangerous to pipes, hot water heaters, washing machines, and the like. After installing, the TDS dropped to 25 ppm which is very safe to drink, shower, and for pipes and machines.

This is a bit bigger than you think but working well for us in our RV. We had extremely hard water and this brings it down to essentially 0ppm. I do think the capacity ratings may be off a bit. This has twice the capacity of the smaller version but is not rated at twice the gallons. For a small diameter increase I am happy I went with the bigger unit. If you camp for extended periods this is the one to get. If you are more of a week or weekend warrior, the smaller unit is better as it recharges quicker (shorter flush times). Very happy with this purchase. I can actually drink the tap water now and no more white deposits on all the pots/pans/glasses.

The only complaint I have is that I didn't buy this sooner. It is easy to use and makes an incredible difference. I'm still on the original filter material, so I can't say how easy it is to change it. The instructions are pretty clear and straightforward, so I'm not expecting any issues. It is a little heavy, but I knew that when I purchased it. Not only would I buy it again, I have recommended it to anyone who will listen. I do recommend a basket or as I used, a square flower pot to help hold it up on grassy surfaces. The only other thing you will need is plain old table salt.

If you’re going to be spending any amount of time in your RV you NEED this unless you’re filling up your unit with soft water already. Or shower like a caveman with hard hose water and suffer.....

I use this in my class A motor home where my wife and I live full-time. It provides soft water to the entire rig. It is easy to install and to stow as we move around the country. We have had this for about 1 year and we service it about each 20-25 days. When we notice the water condition changing, I pour in 2 - 1 LB cans of table salt. The whole process takes about 25-30 minutes. It is worth the effort! My rig has nearly NO mineral deposits on faucets or on the shower head. I assume it is doing the same inside the PEC pipes.

Works great. Easy set up. Plastic fittings are a little cheap, but I installed some brass shut off valves to both sides. Water is so much better. Just did my first regen cycle and it was very easy. Perfect size to fit in the basement area of my fifth wheel, so I can keep it from freezing.

If you purchase any accessory for your RV, this should be the first. We became full times over a year ago. I bought this last November while wintering in Nevada. I never set it up because of freezing concerns. In April we bought a new 5rh wheel and after a couple months I noticed deposits on the kitchen faucet sprayer as well as hard water streaks on the shower glass. I then set the softener up and I can't believe how much better the clothes come out of the washer, no marks on the shower glass and no build up on the faucets. The ice is noticeably better in my beverages and our skin feels much softer. I'm sure all the plumbing and related appliances will last much longer. For the winter I've learned to put a plastic garbage can over the softener with a light inside to protect it from freezing. The water test strips, that came with the package, showed hardness of 480 ppm before installation and less than 40 afterwards.

Does what it's designed to do. Initial softening did not last but two weeks before I had to regenerate the tank. Table salt us cheap and convenient to use. The size is a little cumbersome to load and unload for our traveling lifestyle but manageable.

We needed help with stains in sinks, toilet, and shower. Once installed first two showers where life changing. My husband said he felt slimy. ( He said same thing when we had one installed into our condo too.) This means it’s working and his elbows and knees didn’t feel dry anymore. I took second shower, shampoo and conditioner felt like they where finally doing what they where made to do. All soap felt like it washed off and didn’t leave me feeling dry. And let me tell you my hair, it’s finally not dry. I can comb through natural curls without pulling any out!! So at this point I am very happy about this softener.

ONCE I DID THE FIRST FLUSH, WHICH WAS EASY, AND GOT THE SOFTNER HOOKED UP AND RAN 5 GAL. OF WATER THROUGH IT THE PH WAS 4 AND 0 TO 7 BEING SOFT. AFTER 20 GAL. RAN THROUGH IT THE PH WAS 0. THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING SOFTNER. I USE IT ON MY TRAILER THAT I LIVE IN FULL TIME, IT'S MY TINY HOME, LOL.

The up front cost is high but the maintenance cost is extremely cheap and easy. One down side is that it is heavy for loading and unloading. Lift with your legs! FYI if you camp on the west coast this is must. Water is extremely hard.

An amazing product for your RV. The water hardness here was 180 gpg (pretty hard water) and after hooking this up straight out of the box, it went too 0 gpg (soft). The booklet claims that the average couple will use 50 gallons of water per day. An RV's fresh water holding tanks are, on average, 50 gallon capacity, thus a couple will need to refill daily by their claim. However, we, as RVers, all know that this is not a true statement. A full fresh water tank of 50 gallons will last a couple abt 4-5 days without showering in the RV and utilizing RV park shower houses and approximately 2-3 days with a shower, for a couple, in the RV. Therefore this unit only needs to be regenerated every 8 days with a water hardness to start with of 180gpg. Unlike the softeners in homes, you are able to drink the water from this unit as well and the taste is comparable to bottled water; unlike the salty taste you get from household softeners. Simple, easy to use and light weight! Highly recommend this to all RV owners!

The softness difference in the water is noticeable. More lather from shampoo and shower gel. Less water spots on counters and in the sinks (we have stainless steel sinks). We have had the unit operating for a month now and it doesn’t need recharging yet. We are very pleased with the unit.
