About Athol Originally settled during the 1730s and known as Pequoiag, the town of Athol is situated among the moving slopes of north focal Massachusetts, 70 miles west of Boston. Early pioneers lived by cultivating and chasing and the developing network was officially fused as the town of Athol in 1762. Before the finish of the eighteenth century, a bunch of grist, saw and fulling plants spotted the banks of the Millers and Tully Rivers and in the mid-1800s the town saw a blast in modern development common for "factory towns" of the time. Manufacturing plants fueled basically by the Millers River, enlarged by access to business sectors encouraged by the development of the Vermont and Massachusetts Railroad during the 1840s, prodded such quick development in the trade that extra railroad lines to Springfield and Fitchburg before long pursued. In 1868, the Athol Machine Company was built up to create a hacking machine designed by Laroy S. Starrett. At that point in 1881, Mr. Starrett established the L.S. Starrett Company, presently a global organization as yet delivering excellent accuracy instruments. The Starrett factories command the midtown scene along the Millers River and the organization remains the biggest neighbourhood boss. The Union Twist Drill Co. likewise worked a huge factory downtown and utilized up to 800 at its top until stopping activities during the 1980s. These two organizations earned and keep up Athol's inheritance as the "Instrument Town." The town and North Quabbin area are honoured with a characteristic wonder and numerous recreational chances. From outdoors, to swimming, to angling, to climbing trails with dazzling vistas the territory is overflowing with chances to communicate with nature. What's more, through the Library and Historical Society there are numerous social and stimulation exercises. Today, Athol is a sheltered and moderate network that almost 12,000 individuals call their home. Shouldn't something be said about you?.
