Baldwin County

Created on lands when held by Creek Indians, Baldwin County is based on central Georgia. Founded in 1803, the county remembers Abraham Baldwin, a member from the Continental Congress and author of laws that established the nation’s first rental for a state-supported university or college, the University of Georgia. Milledgeville, the county seat, offered as the state capital for 61 years.
