Seattle General public Utilities (SPU) shields the quality of our water by enforcing a great aggressive watershed safety plan. Agricultural and industrial activities inside the watershed are restricted. Access to the watershed is restricted to certified staff and planned educational programs carried out by SPU personnel. The excellent quality of the source water enables drinking water to be supplied with very little additional treatment. Chlorine is added for disinfection in the Landsburg Diversion Atteinte and again right before entering the District’s system. Chlorination damages Giardia, bacteria, and viruses that may be within the source of water. The District also works a re-chlorination program at our ZE 216th booster pump station. This system health supplements the chlorine commissions for disinfection in a single area of the District furthermost from the Lake Young’s Reservoir. The Area closely monitors chlorine residuals and if the residuals drop beneath acceptable levels, Section staff responds simply by flushing the influenced area to improve proper chlorine amounts and investigates so why the residual was low. Our water is, of course, soft, (hardness mainly because CaCo3 is 1 ) 4-1. 7 grains/gal) with a pH general of 8. two; minerals (calcium o2 and sodium carbonate) are added to support inhibit corrosion in building plumbing devices. Following a Detroit public vote saved in November 1968, fluoride-based is added to the drinking water at suitable levels to prevent tooth decay. After the drinking water enters the CRWSD system, great you remember to ensure its good quality to your colocar. SPU and CRWSD staff monitor drinking water quality in the resource water, treatment functions, and distribution program 365 days a year. Screening is conducted in specific frequencies (continuously, daily, monthly, quarterly, or annually) in locations (before treatment, after treatment, and throughout the circulation system) following federal and state regulations..
