About Us, The Cambridge Water Department (CWD) is a municipally claimed and operated water utility overhauling more than 100,000 inhabitants. The CWD operates under the general heading of the City Manager. The Cambridge Water Board has involved five individuals appointed by the City Manager, who serve in an advisory capacity to the City Manager and the Managing Director of the Water Department. The CWD is regulated by Federal and State drinking water codes and is included three divisions: Administration, Transmission and Distribution and Distribution. The strategic the Department is to give a safe, adequate and continuous water supply of the highest calibre to the residents of Cambridge. The CWD keeps on executing its long haul capital strategic plan to guarantee the respectability and functionality of the Cambridge water system. The systems that contain the Water Department are: the watershed and its related facilities, for example, gatehouses, dams, spillways and valves; the Stony Brook course and associated valving; the Fresh Pond Reservoir; the treatment plant; the Payson Park completed water supply; the Payson transmission lines and associated valving; the dissemination system; and three Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) crisis interconnects. There will be proceeded with emphasis on: improving client assistance, saving vitality through proceeded with conservation endeavors (for example GreenSense Program), mechanical upgrades (for example variable recurrence drives (VFDs) on siphons), process modifications (for example storage, siphon, purification and channel operations) and renewable vitality sources (for example solar panels); revitalizing the water appropriation system; proceeding with upgrades and restoration enhancements to the Fresh Pond Reservation guided by the Master Plan; the Stony Brook Conduit; Payson Park power and supply lines; and treatment plant process optimization, to improve the water quality conveyed to our clients.
