City of Hillsboro Drinking Water Report Info
From Farming Roots to the Economic Engine of the State Cemetery SlideshowHillsboro has a rich and intriguing history, beginning with the Native American Indians that once occupied the region to the appearance of Europeans and Americans in the 1830's to the settlement and growth of Hillsboro to what it is today. Our local history has made tourist spots extraordinary to Hillsboro: the mammoth sequoias in front of the County courthouse; a downtown storefront; a homesteader's animal dwellingplace; a family burial ground; a private area; or a lot of drive-in café dolls. Discovering and saving these milestones commends the unmistakable properties that help characterize Hillsboro to its occupants, neighbors, and visitors. Statewide Planning Goal 5 requires every local government to inventory their historic resources and to protect those found critical. Hillsboro has had a Cultural Resource Inventory since 1985. The 81 locales on the Inventory are protected under Community Development Code Section 12.27.300. View Hillsboro's Cultural Resources through this PDF guide or this intuitive Google map. Protecting Historic Hillsboro Awards Each year the Preserving Historic Hillsboro Awards recognize the noticeable tokens of our community's long history, and the people who have safeguarded them. Grants are introduced in a few categories: stewardship of a private structure in original condition; stewardship of a non-private structure in original condition; restoration of a private structure; retention of a historic structure through remodeling and versatile reuse; historically appropriate new construction or reconstruction; and the Chair's honor for preservation that falls outside those categories. For as long as two years, Hillsboro Heritage PlaquePreserving Historic Hillsboro Award victors whose properties are on the Cultural Resource Inventory will also get a Hillsboro Heritage Plaque. Hillsboro Heritage Plaques The City and the HLAC made the Heritage Plaque program to distinguish and recognize historic properties with top notch cast aluminum markers. Assets for the markers are provided halfway by the property owners and in part by the City, from the Hillsboro book authors' royalties. As of May 2015 21 of the 81 assigned resources in the city will be set apart with Heritage Plaques. Washington County Heritage On-Line Over 800 historic pictures of Washington County are accessible on-line through this project, a cooperative project among the Washington County Museum, local historical societies, community libraries, and non-profit organizations. The project was financed to a limited extent by an award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, controlled by the Oregon State Library. View over 800 pictures of historic Hillsboro at the Washington County Heritage Organization site. Solicitation for Informal Bids for Cultural Resource Alteration Review The City of Hillsboro occasionally requests informal offers from Historic Preservation Professionals to provide consulting administrations for audit of a proposed Cultural Resource Alteration application. There are no solicitations right now. It would be ideal if you return..
