Soon after the Civil War in 1865, the town currently known as Woodway was established by a war veteran by the name of Burl Kendrick who acquired 320 sections of land on the eastern side of present day Woodway. In 1877, Whitehall Church was manufactured where the cutting edge Whitehall Park is situated on Santa Fe Drive. In 1901, land was deeded by Captain Kendrick for the principal school named Whitehall School. These two tourist spots were the focal point of every single social action for the encompassing territories until the school shut in 1918 and the congregation shut in 1924. The Carleen Bright Arboretum has a careful copy of the first Whitehall Church which hosts numerous social capacities for the territory. In 1969, the volunteer local group of fire-fighters was broken down; anyway in 1970, the Village saw a need so they reestablished the local group of fire-fighters and approved labor to work the fire gear. By 1972 the vast majority of the labor for the local group of fire-fighters was put under the head of police. In 1975, the police and local groups of fire-fighters were consolidated and turned into the Public Safety Department. The City Hall, Police and Fire Departments were situated at 200 Sharron Drive until March, 1992, when City Hall moved to 924 Estates Drive. Open Safety moved to its present area on 920 Estates Drive in 1993. In December of 2007 development on the new City Hall situated at 922 Estates Drive was finished. The area at 924 Estates Drive at that point turned into the Community Service and Development Department working with the Administration and Utility Billing Departments moving to the new area. The Carleen Bright Arboretum venture started in 1997. Dough puncher 1994 to 2010; Bill Weber 2010 to 2012; and Don J. Dough puncher 2012 to the present day. Alongside the chairmen have been seven City Managers throughout the entire existence of the city and they are: Robbie Bean, John T. Lynch, Jr., Carl Dossey, James Wood (Interim), Marvin P.
