The final half of 2017 and first half of 2018 has been another occupied year for the District. We have produced great strides with several programs and tasks that we’ve recently been analyzing and planning in recent years. There have been a number of significant accomplishments do this past year (as outlined below), however we remain persistent and committed to constantly refining the services we offer to balance the needs of designers and our existing customers. District personnel are very professional, skilled and knowledgeable. Nevertheless , like most utilities, our company is not doing a realistic alternative of “telling the story” to the community. To help mitigate this problem, we have been spending additional time and effort to improve the social media presence. Functioning forward to the daily challenge of offering our customers secure, reliable water 24/7/365 and are happy to summarize a few accomplishments with this review period beneath. Water Supply: Our on-going collaboration with Ruler County Water Section #111 resulted in a water wholesale contract. After agreeing to terms to provide #111 with water, the District worked with #111 staff to complete the last of the control improvements needed for the 288th Street intertie. 2017 revenue gathered per our contract was $270, 500. It is an absolute “win-win-win” for each of the areas and the communities all of us serve. Due to winter season being colder than normal and the common rainfall/snowfall we have skilled, Tacoma Water offers stated the Local Water Supply System (RWSS) should have “run from the river” conditions want normal. So with an ordinary summer predicted, you should be in a great placement to capitalize upon our abundant source to generate water income. By the end of 2018, we should also be producing power to offset 74% of our PSE electric powered bill at the Admin Campus internet site, once the new C-4 Tap and generator building is completed. EYESIGHT OF TOMORROW, ACTIONS TODAY Security and Emergency Response: CWD has completed significant emergency response preparing and preparation actions to date. We continuing to follow-up around the J100 Risk and Resiliency Study and completed the initial set of prioritized security advancements at the District’s head office. We now have a new almost all hazard/earthquake insurance driver of $3. 8M for our circulation system to cover the “at-risk” drinking water mains located in crucial areas if they will fail in an earthquake or other organic disaster. Financial Durability: We received a clean audit from your State Auditor’s Workplace for fiscal 12 months 2016. At the end of 2014, the District’s cash on hand was $9. 5M and a debt percentage of 51%, great it stands in $22. 6M and our debt percentage has fallen to 41% respectively. The largest impact of these attempts is for the past 2 yrs, we have not required a rate increase..
