The Curry Water System is named a country water system that gives consumable water to around 17,300 populace or 5,790 dynamic client associations in Walker and Winston County, Alabama. The inclusion territory incorporates the communities of Curry, South Lowell, Macedonia, Thach, Poplar Springs, Black Pond, Redmill, and the west/southwest pieces of Lewis Smith Lake. The Curry Water System was planned by Paul Krebs and Associates, Inc. in 1973 to serve 1,500 client associations. Development started September of 1978 and was finished by Tucker Brothers Contracting Company in July of 1980. The water system comprised of the Curry raised 300,000 gallon water stockpiling tank and the Thach raised 100,000 gallon water stockpiling tank. Around 125 miles of appropriation system channeling comprising of 2 1/2, 3, 6, and 8 inch lines, additionally two supporter siphoning stations. Throughout the following couple of years, different expansions were endorsed over the Curry and Thach territories. In September of 1982, development started on the Redmill augmentation and was finished by Apel Machine and Supply Company in November of 1983. This augmentation comprised of the Redmill standpipe 500,000 gallon stockpiling tank, roughly 85 miles of appropriation channeling comprising of 3,6, and 8 inch lines, and one promoter siphoning station.
