Grand Prairie Bayou 2 PWA Drinking Water Report Info
History In 1981 Grand Prairie Water Users Association was formed and over the next five years contracts, easements, credits and development of the system occurred. In October 1986, water was made available to 600 customers in rustic northeast Lonoke County. The Grand Prairie Water Users Association grew over the next 23 years to see an increase from the 2 groundwater wells and ½ million gallons per day treatment office to 8 groundwater wells and three treatment facilities with an overall capacity of 2.5 million gallons per day. Over the most recent 23 years, the customer base has increased from the first 600 customers to 2,350. The Bayou Two Water System was developed in 1987 and was initially intended to be a piece of the Grand Prairie Water System; however, due to financing challenges, the two systems were unable to begin like one. Amazing Prairie provided management service to the Bayou Two system from 1994 to 2006. The Bayou Two Water System customer base increased from the first 350 customers to 1,550. In 2006, the Bayou Two system merged with Grand Prairie framing the Grand Prairie Bayou Two Public Facilities Board with an absolute customer base of 3,900. Bayou Two's water source had previously been through Jacksonville Water however since the merger lines were connected to eliminate the purchase of water from Jacksonville. Water rates between the two systems are expected to level in January of 2010. To ensure the Grand Prairie Bayou Two customers have a proceeding with a viable source of water, we have been working over the previous 16 years to develop the Lonoke/White project that will carry surface water to this area from Greer's Ferry Lake. In 2012, Grand Prairie Bayou Two Public Facilities Board became Grand Prairie Bayou Two Public Water Authority. Source Water Currently our water source is 8 groundwater wells which together provide 3,500 gallons per minute of freshwater to be treated. Future source in development is surface water from Greer's Ferry Lake through the Lonoke/White project. Board Members Grand Prairie Bayou Two Public Water Authority of Lonoke County, Arkansas: Woody Bryant, President Horace Galloway, Vice President Ray Cass, Secretary James White, Director Elmer Mahoney, Director Larry Weathers, Director Tom Fortner, Director Staff Terry W.
