The RWSS also sometimes may include water circulated from wells situated on the North Fork with the Green River, as well within the protected watershed. Water from the Golf course River watershed is definitely diverted below Howard Hanson Dam towards the new Green Water Filtration Facility (where it is treated and filtered) and then right into a 34-mile long pipe built by a collaboration between Lakehaven Drinking water & Sewer Region, the City of Tacoma, City of Kent, and Covington Water Section. Tacoma Water handles the RWSS which includes water quality monitoring, treatment, and canal maintenance in co-operation with the project companions. The drinking water through the RWSS is a great interruptible source of normal water for Lakehaven and it is intended to supplement the groundwater supply. RWSS water availability could be interrupted due to drought conditions, low water flow volumes inside the Green River, or perhaps other water top quality issues. Lakehaven will certainly continue to utilize drinking water from the RWSS since it is available to better control our water assets and help reduce the requirements on our existing groundwater system..
