The rating has set the implementation timeline intended for the SGMA as well as the development of a Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). As a medium concern basin, our strategy must be complete simply by January 31, 2022. The first step was to document a Notice of Intent to become a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA). The law required that a great eligible agency should have held a general public hearing and dicated to become a GSA simply by January 1, 2017. The Lakeside Drinking water District Board of Directors voted to turn into a GSA at a public hearing on October 4, 2016. Other agencies inside the San Diego River Area Groundwater Basin likewise voted to participate: the County of North park, the City of North park and Padre Atteinte Municipal Water Area, and the City of Santee. As GSAs, they will create a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the GSP. The City of Santee removed their particular status as a GSA to become a Voluntary Participator. In November 2017 the GSA group applied to the DWR for a grant which usually would fund approximately 50% of the GSP cost. We were awarded up to $600, 500 of the GSP’s approximated cost of $1. two million. The SGMA has provided regional agencies with groundwater management tools to assist meet the groundwater durability requirements. For example, GSAs may conduct necessary investigations; enforce well registration and installing of water measuring devices upon groundwater wells inside the basin boundaries; need annual extraction claims, or other affordable measuring methods to decide groundwater extractions; dangerous well spacing and limiting or hanging extractions from person groundwater water wells; assess fees necessary to establish and apply local management programs. The goal of Lakeside Drinking water District is to enable property owners to pump groundwater responsibly, while being found in compliance with our founded Groundwater Sustainability Strategy. The GSAs will be mandated to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to provide a review at various phases of the GSP advancement and we will do so by managing e-mail updates to interested parties and maintaining public training courses at appropriate improvement stages. Information about SGMA may be found at www.sandiegocounty. gov/PDS/SGMA. html Notice: The Department of Water Resources finished a Basin Prioritization update on May 18, 2018. Based on fresh analysis of pot characteristics, it has been suggested that the San Diego Water Valley’s rating becomes downgraded from a medium priority into a very low priority pot. The implications are actually that the basin has ceased to be subject to SGMA. The brand new draft prioritization is usually scheduled to be completed by fall 2018 (after a 60-day public comment period from May 18 to July 18, 2018). As a GSA, Lakeside Water Section will take a careful approach to any long term management plans, in cost and range..
