The City of Loganville is committed to offering quality water to the customers. The Walton County Water Division (WCWD) and Gwinnett County supply the Associated with Loganville with top quality drinking water. The following info will explain to water comes from as well as the treatment processes used. Where does my water come from? The main source of water supply intended for the WCWD may be the Lake Varner Tank and Treatment Facility situated in Newton County. The WCWD is a 25% partner of the Pond Varner facilities. The WCWD also buys additional water supply coming from neighbouring utility devices including the Oconee Region (Bear Creek Reservoir), the City of Monroe (Alcovy River/John Briscoe Reservoir), and Gwinnett County (Lake Lanier). The water we beverage is withdrawn coming from sources mentioned above and processed through a drinking water treatment facility to meet Federal government Drinking Water Standards. Potassium Permanganate may be given into the raw drinking water for Manganese and Iron control. Water is then treated to get rid of several contaminants. Chlorine and Chlorine Dioxide are also used for infections and bacteria which may be present in raw drinking water. Fluoride is put to enhancing dental safety. Phosphate and hydrated lime are commonly utilized for corrosion control. Pollutants that may be present in resource water before treatment include: • Microbes contaminants, such as infections and bacteria, which might come from sewage treatment plants, septic storage containers, agricultural livestock and wildlife. • Inorganic contaminants, such as debris and metals, which may be naturally occurring or derive from urban storm drinking water runoff, industrial or perhaps domestic production sewage discharges, oil and gas creation, mining and harvesting. • Pesticides and weed killers, which may come from several sources such as farming and residential make use of. • Radioactive pollutants, which may be naturally occurring. • Organic chemical pollutants, including synthetic and volatile organic chemical substances, which are by-products of business processes and petroleum production, gas stations, city stormwater runoff, and septic devices. To ensure that plain tap water is safe to drink, the EPA prescribes rules which limit the number of certain contaminants in water provided by general public water systems..
