Besides the three Township boreholes, Pequannock’s water program has two interconnections with the City of Newark water system. Newark’s water comes from a surface source from your Pequannock Water Shed which is supplied by five reservoirs; Charlottenburg, Replicate Lake, Canister, Clinton and Oak Shape. The purpose of these interconnections is to supplement the Township’s supply of drinking water. These interconnections can be found along the aqueduct which will cross the Township and the connections can be found at Hopper Method and Jefferson Road. During 2017, the approximate volume of normal water delivered from the Newark system represents forty-one. 4% of the annual amount of water distributed by the Township.
