SMCMUA, a general public entity created pursuant to N. M. S. A. forty: 14B-1 et seq., provides potable drinking water and water solutions to customers inside its creating cities or District (the Town of Morristown, the Township of Morris, the Township of Hanover, and Borough of Morris Plains) as well as to particular customers and cities outside its Area including the Townships of Chatham, Mendham, Harding, Randolph and Parsippany-Troy Hills and the Area of Florham Recreation area. It also supplies drinking water at wholesale prices to the Morris Region Municipal utility Expert (MCMUA) and the Borough of Wharton. The Authority gives water to around 65, 000 occupants, delivering approximately eight. 3 MGD with an average daily most basic and above doze. 4 MGD during peak demand intervals. SMCMUA treats and distributes surface drinking water from the Clyde Potts Reservoir and coming from groundwater sources received from the glacial fine sand and gravel aquifer and the Brunswick aquifer. Clyde Potts Tank water is cured using membrane purification, granular activated co2 adsorption, corrosion control treatment (CCT) and chlorine disinfection. All the groundwater sources get chlorine disinfection, a pair of the wells are treated for removing volatile organic pollutants and two water wells are treated intended for the removal of manganese. SMCMUA purchases finished drinking water through interconnections with MCMUA and Passaic Valley Water Commission rate (PVWC). Finished drinking water from MCMUA arises from groundwater sources. Completed water purchased coming from PVWC is a mixture of water obtained from PVWC’s Little Falls Drinking water Treatment Plant (LFWTP) and/or from the North Jersey District Hydrant Commission’s (NJDWSC’s) Wanaque Water Treatment Herb. The LFWTP goodies mostly Passaic and Pompton River oceans using a treatment procedure consisting of coagulation, sedimentation, ozone primary disinfection, granular activated carbon/sand filtration, chlorine supplementary disinfection, and CCT. The Wanaque Drinking water Treatment Plant goodies Wanaque Reservoir drinking water using a treatment procedure consisting of coagulation, sedimentation, anthracite/sand filtration, main and secondary chlorine disinfection, and CCT..
