Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District is found six miles southwest of the south finish of the Salt Lake City business district and is in the focal point of the Salt Lake Valley. The District is verged on the north by West Valley City, on the west by the network of Kearns, on the south by West Jordan and on the east by the Jordan River. Its land mass contains around 13 square miles. The zone was initially settled in 1849 by Mormon settlers who were changed over to the Mormon confidence in England by chapel pioneer John Taylor. Brothers John and Samuel Bennion were called to settle this zone by their companion John Taylor. As their posterity developed, they moved into the areas south of the first settlement. These two communities became together as Taylorsville and Bennion into what has turned out to be known as the City of Taylorsville. The City was fused in 1996 and operates freely of the District with a slightly unique limit. The District was made in 1957 as a free water and sewer special service district under the laws of Salt Lake County. The requirement for the District became out of the necessity to give life sustaining water and sewer disposal needs of a regularly increasing populace. In barely 160 years, the network has developed in number from a couple of families to more than 70,000 individuals. At first, there were less than 100 connections yet today, there are some 17,000. To start with, the District sent its wastewater to another sewer district to be dealt with.
