What is the source of my water? Your water is groundwater and bought floor water. We aim to protect our water from contaminants and we are operating with the State to decide the vulnerability of our water source to ability infection. The West Knox Utility District (WKUD) become created underneath the authority of Title 7, Chapter eighty two of the Utility District Law of the State of Tennessee and started operating on October 18, 1954. The purpose of the District is to “accumulate, construct, improve, increase, operate and preserve a water and wastewater machine.” The District’s carrier area of seventy- rectangular miles is bordered on the east by using the City of Knoxville, at the south by Interstate Highways forty and seventy five, and on the north and west with the aid of Anderson and Loudon counties, respectively. The north and west barriers are shaped by using Melton Hill Lake, created by the impoundment of the Clinch River by way of the Melton Hill Dam. Today WKUD serves over 25,000 water and 20,000 wastewater clients in one of the fastest growing counties in Tennessee. The District is governed by means of a Board of Commissioners composed of three residents who are living in or are clients of the District. Board contributors are appointed through the Knox County Mayor for a time period of four years. The Board meets month-to-month commonly on the fourth Thursday of the month.
