Turbidex is a lightweight zeolite media that traps sediment down to the 3-5 micron range, leaving water clear enough to measure below 0.1 NTU. It’s the replacement for ChemSorb media in backwashing sediment filters.
It holds up to 1.5x more than multi-media and up to 2.8x more than sand, so you backwash less and save water. It’s also 50-70% lighter than traditional media, so it’s easier to haul and load. NSF/ANSI 61 certified. Made in USA.
HOW TO USE
Pick your size. Load it up. Rinse. Done.
- Match the size to your tank. The 0.5 cu ft size fits an 8" x 40" tank, 1.0 fits 9" x 48" or 10" x 44", 1.5 fits 10" x 54", 2.0 fits 12" x 52", and 2.5 fits 13" x 54".
- Empty the old media from your mineral tank.
- Load the Turbidex into the tank.
- Run a few backwashes to rinse the new media until the water runs clear.
- Replace it every 4-6 years for best performance.
HOW DOES IT WORK
It’s a trap with a lot of surface area.
- Strain: Turbidex’s porous, irregular granules physically catch suspended solids.
- Settle: It also uses ion exchange, sedimentation, and flocculation, so it captures more than a plain strainer.
- Flush: A backwash sends the trapped sediment down the drain.
