Where it loses points is old-fashioned mechanical valve control. It doesn't offer the same efficiency or programming options of today's newer LCD digitally metered water softeners.

But if you're looking for the greatest upfront savings, the Fleck 5600 Econominder is very affordable and you can't beat the brand recognition of Fleck.

If you want an inexpensive water softener that's dependable, but not as advanced or efficient as newer systems, the Fleck 5600 Econominder is a practical choice.

However, if you want a system that will save you more money in the long term, then you'll want to consider higher-efficiency products.

For whole-house bottled water, we use catalytic Whole House Catalytic Carbon Filter carbon filter instead of coal or coconut because it removes chlorine AND chloramine at high flow rates. This very hard to remove and the traditional filters just can’t handle it. Catalytic carbon is more expensive, but it will do the job and give you the best tasting, healthiest, whole house water, all the time, without fail.

Salt (or potassium) to be added as needed depending on usage.

The mineral tank and brine tank generally last a lifetime unless damaged by weather, acts of god, improper installation or excessive water pressure above 80 PSI. 

The 8% crosslink resin will last up to 5 to 10 years under average operation. Water quality will affect longevity.

Filter Replacement:
Bottom three (Sediment and Carbon Filters) - 6 to 12 months
Alkalizing Filter - 1 to 2 years depending on use
RO membrane - 2 to 3 years depending on use

Carbon media filter will last 5-10 years under typical use. Water quality and content will affect longevity.

Adding a 1/2 cup of household non-perfumed bleach to cleaner to the carbon system once per year is a good idea to help the media perform better, No other regular maintenance.

 Well Water Source:
When on a private well, like any carbon filter, it can require maintenance depending on water quality such as the piston, spacers and seals can be worned or get stuck when iron, sediment or manganese is present in the water. So these types of items may need to be cleaned or replaced. Replacing is generally more effective and they are not expensive parts.

Company warrants to the original consumer purchaser that the water conditioning systems specified below, and the parts listed in this section below, will be free from DEFECTS IN MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP from the date of purchase for the following periods* subject to the manufacturer's warranty.:
