AUB’s Drinking water Division provides drinking water in the city of Athens and McMinn Region. The water we shipped in 2017 outdone the strict restrictions of the state of Tennessee and the Circumstance. S. Environmental Protection Agency. AUB acquires drinking water from 3 sources: a planting season that has been in use for many years; three wells that tap an aquifer in the Oostanaula Creek basin, and; the Hiwassee River through purchases of medicated water from the Hiwassee Utilities Commission (HUC). Water from the springtime and wells is pumped to AUB’s filter plant exactly where state-licensed operators function 365 days a year to supply water that exceeds all state and national water-quality expectations. AUB has a Wellhead Protection Plan, readily available for review at the office, upon obtain. Further, the Tn Department of Environment and Conservation offers prepared a Supply Water Assessment Plan Report for with no treatment water sources. The report assesses the susceptibility of unattended water sources to potential contamination. To make sure safe drinking water, public normal water systems treat and routinely test their particular water. Water resources are rated seeing that reasonably susceptible, reasonably susceptible, or somewhat susceptible based on geologic factors and human being activities in the vicinity of the water source. AUB’s score is reasonably susceptible.
