About Us
For more California resources & information
Monterey is offered by groundwater resources from the Santa Chiribita, Paso Robles, and Carmel Alluvial water supplies as well as surface drinking water from the Sand Town Desalination Plant. Water treatment technologies utilized are reverse osmosis, iron and manganese removal, corrosion control, and disinfection to guarantee the bacteriological quality. Water supply is allocated for residential and commercial use in the areas of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Highlands, Carmel Area, Del Rey Oak trees, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Fine sand City, and Beach destination. NOTICE OF RESOURCE WATER ASSESSMENT (SWA) An assessment from the drinking water sources intended for the California North American Water - Monterey water system was first completed in February the year 2003. This assessment is usually an evaluation of water sources to determine the “possible contaminating activities” (PCAs) to which a resource is most vulnerable. PCAs are current or perhaps historic human actions that are actual or perhaps potential origins of contamination for a water source. PCAs consist of activities that use, shop, produce or get rid of chemicals that have the to contaminate water supplies. The Monterey system’s water resources are considered vulnerable to the next: airport maintenance and fueling areas, car gas stations, dry cleaners, high-density housing, military installation, NPDES/WDR permitted secretions, parks, storm drain discharge permits, low- and high-density solid waste systems, and hydrant wells. Tetrachloroethylene and methyl tert-butyl azure, associated with industrial actions, have historically recently been detected in two groundwater sources. These types of sources are now examined with increased frequency to monitor these pollutants. A copy of the finished assessment may be seen at California North American Water, 511 Do Lodge Road, Collection 100, Pacific Grove, CA. You may ask for a summary of the evaluation be sent to you by contacting Doctor Jack Wang, Drinking-water Quality and Environmental Compliance Director, in (831) 646-3269. The Monterey water program completed a “Watershed Sanitary Survey” within the period of 2001-2006. This kind of survey examines the impacts of the Carmel River watershed..
