RCWD provides water and wastewater services to fulfill the diverse requires of the people who living and working in the Temecula and Murrieta Valleys. RCWD is fortunate to obtain three local causes of water. Surface drinking water runoff into Vail Lake is captured during the winter and released to replace our local subterranean aquifers when obtainable. Native groundwater materials are pumped from your large underground basins that underlie servings of the District. The District also buys untreated imported drinking water for additional groundwater pot recharge. Recycled drinking water (highly treated, strained, and disinfected wastewater) is used on a few landscaping, parks, and golf courses inside the District. In addition to local sources, RCWD purchases imported drinking water from the Metropolitan Drinking water District of El monte (MWD). The two main sources of MWD drinking water are the Colorado Water and the Sacramento San Joaquin Bay-Delta. An assessment from the drinking water sources was first completed in December 2002. The groundwater resources are considered most susceptible to, but have not recently been impacted by, the following actions: crop irrigation, dry out cleaners, electrical production, grazing, gas stations, exploration, photo processing, solid waste systems, and sewer collection systems. You might request that a summary of the assessment become sent to you simply by contacting the Area. Also in Dec 2002, MWD finished its source drinking water assessment of the Colorado River and State Water Task supplies. Colorado Water supplies are considered to become most vulnerable to entertainment, urban/stormwater runoff, increasing urbanization inside the watershed, and sewage. State Water Task supplies are considered to become most vulnerable to urban/stormwater runoff, animals, agriculture, recreation, and wastewater. A copy from the assessment can be obtained by contacting MWD at (800) 225-5693..
