Clearfield Municipal Authority Drinking Water Report Info
The Clearfield Municipal Authority had its beginnings in January 1882. In 1882, the Clearfield Water Company, a private financial specialist organization, was framed to outfit water to the Borough of Clearfield. In 1904 a subsequent water organization, the Lawrence Water Company, appeared to convey water to the regions of Lawrence Township that encompass Clearfield Borough. After its creation, the benefits of the Lawrence Water Company were moved to the Clearfield Water Company. The Clearfield Water Company kept on working until 1945. Around then, Clearfield Borough made, by Ordinance, the Municipal Authority of Clearfield Borough. The Authority was joined under the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Act in August of 1945. A seven part board was designated by the Borough to work the Authority. The Municipal Authority of Clearfield Borough stayed unaltered until September 1957. In 1957, both Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township were being requested by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, State Water Board, to continue with the development of a sewage treatment plant. Development of the sewage treatment plant and interceptor lines were finished in 1959 and the plant was placed into activity that year. The name was changed to the Clearfield Municipal Authority. The 7 part board was realigned with 4 individuals from Clearfield Borough and 3 from Lawrence Township. Today the 5,500 clients of the Clearfield Municipal Authority are served by both a Water and Sewer Division. The Water Division channels water from 2 supplies and 4 wells and keeps up more than 400,000 direct feet of water mains. The Sewer Division works and keeps up the sewage treatment plant and 5 lift stations, alongside 170,000 liner feet of sewer interceptor lines..
