To ensure that faucet water is safe to drink, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY prescribes regulations which in turn limit the number of specific contaminants in normal water provided by the public normal water systems. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) regulations establish restrictions for contaminants found in bottled water, which need to provide the same security for public health. Moving water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at a minimum small amount of several contaminants. The options for drinking water (both faucet water and bottled water) include rivers, wetlands, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and boreholes. As water journeys over the surface in the land or throughout the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals, and perhaps, radioactive material, and will pick up substances as a result of the presence of animals or perhaps from human activity. Chemicals that may be present in supply water include: · Microbial Contaminants, just like viruses and bacterias, which may come from manure treatment plants, solid waste systems, agricultural were being operations, or creatures; · Inorganic Impurities, such as salts and metals, which may be normal occurring or derive from urban storm normal water runoff, industrial or perhaps domestic wastewater secretions, oil and gas production, gold mining, or farming; · Pesticides and Herbicides, which can come from a variety of options such as agriculture, metropolitan stormwater runoff, and residential uses; · Organic Substance Contaminants, including man-made and volatile organic and natural chemicals, which are by-products of industrial processes and petroleum production, and will also come from gasoline stations, urban stormwater runoff, and septic devices; · Radioactive Impurities, which can be naturally occurring or perhaps be the result of coal and oil production and gold mining activities..
