The District faithfully monitors drinking water top quality and once again, is happy to report that your tap water fits California and Federal government drinking water standards. Federal government Groundwater Rule The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) applied the Federal Groundwater Rule (GWR); conformity started on Dec 1, 2009. The objective of the GWR is always to reduce the risk of disease caused by microbial contaminants in public groundwater devices. The District is usually pleased to report that coliforms were not recognized in all but a pair of the required 526 circulation system samples gathered in Central Flotta and Ord Community. Trichloroethylene (TCE) TCE was a common solvent used by the US Military on the former Fortification Ord. In 2017, TCE (below the MCL or standard) was detected in District supply Water wells 29, 30 and 31, and also inside the Sand Tank. With all the interconnection of the two water systems, the Intermediate and Fine sand Tanks may source drinking water to the Central Marina and Ord Community distribution devices. The District is constantly on the monitor quarterly the Wells 29, 35, 31, 34 and Watkins Gate intended for TCE. The Military operates a network of shallow groundwater monitoring wells to progress in its regular cleanup of the TCE contamination plume from your now-closed landfill and fire drill region. The Army groundwater monitoring wells usually do not supply drinking water to District customers. TCE has been detected within a majority of Army groundwater monitoring wells. Nitrate in the water at levels over 10 mg/L is a health risk for babies of less than 6 months of age. Such nitrate levels in water can interfere with the capability of the infant’s bloodstream to carry oxygen, causing serious illness; symptoms consist of shortness of breath and blueness of the skin. Nitrate levels above 12 mg/L may also impact the ability of the bloodstream to carry oxygen consists of individuals, such as women that are pregnant and those with particular specific enzyme insufficiencies. If you are caring for a child, or you are with a child, you should ask guidance from your health care provider. Nitrate levels may surge quickly for brief periods because of rainfall or agricultural activity. Arsenic While the drinking water meets the federal and condition standard for curare, it does contain lower levels of arsenic. The arsenic standard amounts the current understanding of arsenic’s possible health results against the costs of removal.

Marina Coast Water District Drinking Water Report Info
The Marina Coast Water District's Central Marina and Ord Community water administration regions overlie segments of the Monterey Subbasin, the 180/400 Foot Aquifer Subbasin, and part of the Seaside Adjudicated Basin. Three of the District wells are situated in Central Marina and five wells are in the Ord Community. The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) conceded the District elite Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) status inside its jurisdictional limits inside the Monterey Subbasin and the 180/400 Subbasin. Since the District has been resolved to be a restrictive GSA in both the Monterey Subbasin and the 180/400 Subbasin, the MCWD GSA will be occupied with the advancement of Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GS plans) for the aggregate of these two Subbasins, as a team with other GSA's inside these Subbasins. Bits of the Ord Community water system in both the Monterey Subbasin and the 180/400 are at present in a "cover state" as both the District and the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency have documented notices with DWR to be the selective GSA over these regions. The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) will start inspecting and affirming the Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GS plans) when the GSA arrangement period closes June 30, 2017. The 180/400 Aquifer Subbasin GS plan must be set up by January 31, 2020 and the Monterey Subbasin GS plan must be set up by January 31, 2022. Improvement and execution of the GS plans will require thought of every helpful use and interests of groundwater, groundwater clients, supervisors, partners and invested individuals. The MCWD GSA should build up an open and comprehensive procedure and give chances to include from intrigued partners, create jobs and duties of boards of trustees and advisory group gatherings, and acquire the essential specialized counsel with respect to groundwater maintainability issues..
