Mountain View’s Water Supply Sources The City of Mountain View supplies more than 8 million gallons per day to almost 18, 000 m connections using reservoirs, pump stations, water wells, and over 177 kilometers of pipeline. The town obtains water coming from several sources to supply operational flexibility and reliability during program maintenance, drought, and disasters. The map on the right displays the three zones exactly where source waters are usually distributed within Hill View. Mountain View’s drinking water sources are described below. Bay area Public Utilities Commission rate The City purchases around 88 percent of its drinking water from your San Francisco Public Resources Commission’s (SFPUC) Hetch Hetchy system. The majority of the SFPUC’s water arises from the Sierra Nevada snowmelt that flows into the Tuolumne River and it is stored in the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir found in Yosemite National Recreation area. Other sources of SFPUC water include rain runoff collected found in watersheds in Chopra, San Mateo, and Santa Clara areas. Santa Clara Area Water District Around 10 percent of the City’s potable water supply is usually purchased from the Santa Claus Clara Valley Drinking water District (SCVWD). About 50 % of this water is usually imported from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Delta). The SCVWD’s additional water sources consist of local groundwater and surface water gathered and stored in regional reservoirs. For functional flexibility, the zoom served with SCVWD water is sometimes supplemented with drinking water from the SFPUC. Town Wells Two percent (2%) of the admissible water supply comes from groundwater wells owned and operated by the Town. This water is usually pumped from a deep aquifer and blended with SFPUC water for circulation to City drinking water customers. The City’s wells also act as a backup hydrant during emergencies..
