East Rio Hondo Water Supply Corporation (ERHWSC) ERHWSC is situated in Cameron County, Texas, around 6 miles from the U.S./Mexico outskirt. The Corporation was made in the 1970's to give consumable water administration to the country areas of Rio Hondo scene Cameron County north of SH 100, east of US Highway 77/83, south of the Cameron/Willacy County line and the floodway, and east to the Laguna Madre, barring the areas of Harlingen, Los Fresnos, San Benito, Combes, Rio Hondo and Laguna Madre Water District. ERHWSC gives consumable water to a unincorporated area totaling around 24,000 individuals. Authority for water administration is given by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) through Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) No. 11552. The system covers roughly 407 square miles and has around 7,250 retail water meters and an extra 500 meters served through three discount accounts. ERHWSC has a wastewater treatment plant and collection system for the colonies of Lozano and Las Yescas and is approved to give wastewater (sewer) administration under CCN No. 20861. Stage 1 of the wastewater upgrades was financed by the United States Department of Agriculture-Rural Development. ERHWSC plans a second stage which will extend the stage 1 WWTP and collection system and will give wastewater administration to inhabitants in the colonies of Arroyo Gardens, Lantana, Arroyo Colorado Estates, and San Vicente. On September 5, 2003, Arroyo Water Supply Corporation's (AWSC) board endorsed Resolution No. 0201 consenting to a merger with ERHWSC. ERHWSC concurred with the merger by passing a Resolution on September 9, 2003. On October 12, 2003, AWSC held a participation submission concerning the merger with ERHWSC and the choice gone by 2/third vote. Articles of the Merger among AWSC and ERHWSC were marked in December 2003 and the merger produced results on January 1, 2004. The ERHWSC works 3 surface water treatment plants (WTP), one in Arroyo City, 0.675 Million Gallons Day (MGD), 2 close San Benito (3.2 MGD) and (8.0 MGD) and a saline groundwater Reverse Osmosis water treatment plant ( 2.0 MGD) west of Combes, Texas. ERHWSC works its water treatment plants under TCEQ ID No. 000310096, 000310031 and 000310094. ERHWSC supplements their water supply by buying consumable water from the City of Harlingen Waterworks System through a current interconnect, found only northwest of the Harlingen Airport. ERHWSC and the City of Harlingen have a contractual understanding that lapses in February 2019, for the acquisition of 6.0 million gallons for every month (200,000 GPD) of treated consumable water. ERHWSC is at present planning or constructing transmission lines to connect the system with trunk lines from the east toward the west end. ERHWSC's Board and supervisory group industriously endeavor to keep up quality assistance and top-notch water for our individuals at a sensible cost..
