About Us
For more South Dakota resources & information
Rapid Town uses some causes of water for the water system. A part of our sources will be two infiltration art galleries located along the Quick Creek alluvium. They are the Jackson Suspension springs Gallery and Lady Scouts Gallery. All of us utilize eight water wells that draw drinking water from the Minnelusa and Madison Aquifers. All of us also utilize surface area water from Quick Creek, which comes from the Rapid Creek drainage area western of Rapid Town. This source contains the Deerfield and Pactola Reservoirs. These types of reservoirs supply drinking water to the Mt. Look at and Jackson Suspension springs surface water treatment plants for city and county use as well as downstream irrigation use. The Deerfield and Pactola dams are managed and maintained by the City of Rapid Town Water Division within the contract with the US Bureau of Reclamation. The state has assessed the source water plus they have determined the relative susceptibility ranking for the Quick City public hydrant system is medium. Information about this assessment can be acquired by calling the state of Hawaii Department of Environment and Natural Assets at 605-773-3296 or perhaps by visiting the following website: http://denr. sd. gov/des/gw/Sourcewater/ Source_Water_Protection. aspx Almost all sources of drinking water will be subject to potential contaminants by substances which can be naturally occurring or man-made. As water moves over the land or perhaps underground, it can get substances or pollutants such as microbes, inorganic, organic, and radioactive substances. All water, including bottled water, might reasonably be expected to contain at a minimum of small amounts of a few contaminants. The presence of pollutants does not necessarily show that the water positions a health risk. More information about pollutants and potential wellness effects can be obtained simply by calling the Environmental Safety Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Servicenummer at 800-426-4791..
