The Sequoyah County Water Association was initially conceived by a group of minding residents in 1965 and was first formed as the Eastern Oklahoma Water District. Nonetheless, when the Board of Directors saw the zone that the water system would serve, they ended up incorporated as a non-profit organization in April 1968 as the Sequoyah County Water Association.
