The water comes from 3 (3) community groundwater wells (Well 102, 103, and 106) which have a mixed service capacity of around 3. 5 mil gallons per day. The water source for all water wells is 800 to 1100 feet deep into what is generally called the Upper Floridan Aquifer. This drinking water source provides sufficient volumes of drinking water for your community. These types of wells are allocated throughout the City of St Marys. Any necessary treatment of the water, like the addition of medical disinfectant and/or removal of pollutants, is performed at the good sites. Well, houses are protected coming from activities that could cause contamination of the water source throughout the implementation of a Wellhead Protection Plan. A Wellhead Protection Strategy (WHPP) is a statement in which the Georgia Division of Natural Assets Environmental Protection Department identifies any type of pollution that your water supply could be vulnerable and contains information regarding probable sources of contamination within your watershed. The current WHPP indicates no potential pollution sources inside the fifteen (15) foot control zones. Potential pollution sources inside the wells’ 100 base management zones consist of access and supplementary roads, electrical transformer repair, utility poles, and underground/above ground storage space tanks. Copies of the very most updated Wellhead Safety Plan are available after request at the St Marys City Corridor..
