Upkeep/ Maintenance Tips
It is critical to preserve enough potassium within the feeder tank for the greensand iron filter system to function properly.
Once a week, check the color of water in pot perm tank.
Light Pink Color:
If the color is light pink, then add another 1.75 pound bottle of pot perm to tank.
Based on the recommended minimum regeneration of every four days, you should be adding pot perm about once per month.
The potassium pad should to be rinsed out with water every 6-12 months as maintenance. This will keep the pad pores from plugging up.
Pot Perm Usage
We recommend adding only maximum of 1.75 pounds of potassium permanganate (pot perm) to the tank.
Warning:
If you add more than 1.75 lbs at once, it may collapse the foam plate in the tank.
1.75 lbs typically last an average of one month.
