Parts per mil (ppm) or Mg per liter (mg/l) - one component by weight of analyte to 1 mil parts by excess weight of the water test. Parts per billion dollars (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (µg/l) - one component by weight of analyte to 1 billion dollars parts by excess weight of the water test.
