The SoftPro Auto Backwash Centaur Carbon Filter loads Centaur catalytic carbon from Calgon Carbon into a whole-house tank with an electronic 1" auto-backwash control valve. It's tough on chlorine and chloramine, and especially handy on well water with rotten-egg sulfur odor and off tastes.
It flushes itself on schedule, so the media stays fresh and the water keeps flowing.

HOW TO USE
- Install it ahead of your softener on the main line, with a drain line for backwash and an outlet nearby.
- Start up slowly and run the first backwash to flush out carbon fines.
- Set the backwash schedule. Overnight is ideal, when nobody's using water.
- Leave it alone. Replace the carbon when performance drops, typically after several years.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Regular carbon is a sponge. It soaks stuff up until it's full.
Centaur catalytic carbon has an engineered surface that speeds up chemical reactions, so it breaks down chloramine and hydrogen sulfide instead of just holding onto them. Water flows through the carbon bed and comes out cleaner, fresher, and better tasting.
Every few days, the control valve reverses the flow and backwashes the bed with raw water. That lifts the media, scrubs off trapped particles, and sends them down the drain. No salt needed.
