Report a Leak Pay My Bill Home/Our Water/History The Virgin Valley Water District was made by the State Legislature in 1993. The underlying resources of the Water District were shaped from the Mesquite Farmstead Water Association and Bunkerville Water User's Association. Water rights contributed from every one of the two water organizations included 60% from the Mesquite Farmstead Water Association and 40% from the Bunkerville Water User's Association. The principal well in the valley was penetrated in 1930 on the school grounds in Mesquite. The all around was 300 feet down. The well water was not drinkable as a result of the high measure of broke up solids (salts) so the water was utilized in the bathrooms of the school. The primary "water system" in the Valley was developed in 1933 which associated the Bunkerville High School and ten homes that used funneled water system water. Water was siphoned from the 10,000 gallon tank up to the 25,000 gallon tank. The water from the 25,000 gallon tank at that point streamed into the system that served the ten homes and secondary school. In the mid 1930's, an arrangement was created, subsidizing was given by the Soil Conservation Service, and work from neighborhood inhabitants and the Civilian Conservation Corps to build up a few springs and pipe water part path down the mountain to a little dam. Inhabitants from the valley could then drive wagons or trucks to the dam and fill water barrels with much preferred water over the channel water. A little water tank was worked alongside the dam for inhabitants to get their water (predominantly on the grounds that the little dam site had turned into an advantageous swimming gap). When enough assets were gathered, another tank, further down the mountain was built. It ended up known as "Three Mile Tank". It was one of a kind in that it had a divider inside the tank that isolated the water into a 60%/40% split. The 60% side was for Mesquite inhabitants. The 40% side was for Bunkerville inhabitants. In 1938, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints supported a venture to finish waterlines from "Three Mile Tank" to Bunkerville and Mesquite (separate lines). Presently nearby occupants could go to the neighborhood standpipe and get water around the local area as opposed to driving up the mountain. In the mid to late 1940's, financing was verified to give a simple water circulation system. For Bunkerville, the Bunkerville Water User's Association was in charge of the conveyance system. For Mesquite, it was the Mesquite Farmstead Water Association that was in charge of the dispersion system. In light of World War II, steel/cast iron materials were not accessible for use for pipe.
