Efficient water makes use of benefits the environment, public welfare, and the economy by simply helping to improve normal water quality, maintain marine ecosystems, and guard water resources. Western Sound Utility Section participates with the Team of Health to encourage water preservation by establishing Normal water Use Efficiency desired goals and taking actions toward achieving these types of goals. These desired goals were set in a public hearing and therefore are evaluated annually to our progress. Ø Goal: Limit syndication system leakage to less than 10% of total production on the 3-year annual typical. Progress: Distribution program leakage from 2014 through 2017 is 6. 4% of total production. Ø Goal: Maintain drinking water consumption per comparative residential unit (ERU) to less than 230 gallons per day. Improvement: Water consumption every ERU for 2017 was 168 gallons per day. Ø Objective: Educate rate payers on the importance of normal water conservation. Progress: Western world Sound Utility Area strives to educate the ratepayers through news letters, billing messages, and our website. Region staff participates inside the annual Water Event and the WaterPAK presentation area at the Kitsap Nation Fair. Through these kinds of efforts, along with an aggressive drip detection program and dedicated field personnel, it is estimated that we have preserved over 200 mil gallons of drinking water from 2013 through 2017. We will work to better manage each of our water, which is a useful natural resource.
