The City of Extremidad Gorda is a surface area water supply plant with Shell Creek while our source of drinking water. Water impounded by Hendrickson Dam is called Shell Creek Tank and is the fourth greatest surface water program within the boundary from the Southwest Florida Drinking water Management District. The last step of the treatment procedure involves the blocking of the treated drinking water to remove any additional halted solids. Prior to purification, caustic soda is usually added to adjust the pH and strengthen the water. The water gets into a clear well in which a stabilizer is put in to help to prevent corrosion inside the distribution system.
