Ohio Water Utility Companies

The source of WPAFB’s drinking water is the Great Miami Buried Area Aquifer. This aquifer is a large subterranean area of water-bearing fine sand and gravel debris. WPAFB has a current, unconditional license to work two community general public water systems (PWS) supplied by this groundwater aquifer. This organic aquifer provides WPAFB with approximately one particular billion gallons of water each year. You will find six wells that serve Area A and four wells that serve Area W. Each good program has its treatment process. The treatment contains air stripping to get rid of volatile organic chemical substances (VOCs), chlorine disinfection to eliminate bacteria, and fluoridation which encourages strong teeth. The housing residents get water which is also melted. The Area A drinking water system has interconnections with the City of Fairborn’s PWS. The City of Fairborn is capable of supplying all of Region A with drinking water in case of an emergency, nevertheless, we have not a new need to use drinking water from the City of Fairborn in many years. The region B water program has an alternate floor water supply from a few wells located in the East Well Discipline near Huffman Alpage. In 2007, the OEPA completed research of WPAFB’s supply of drinking water to identify potential contaminant sources and supply.
