Our system pushes groundwater from a great aquifer known as the Reduce Hawthorne by five production wells which can be approximately 750 ft deep. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is the way the impurities that occur naturally within our waters are eliminated. The two major harmful particles that we deal with will be chlorides and total dissolved solids (TDS). In 1998, Boyle Architectural, Inc. completed a water quality research for the Greater Pine Island Water Association, Inc. The conclusion from the report was that Greater Pine Island Water Association, Inc. has excellent potable (drinking) drinking water quality. For disinfection purposes the addition of water chlorine is put into the water before it is stored for delivery, this ensures the quality when it gets to your faucet. In 2016, the Fl Department of Environmental Protection performed a Source Water Evaluation on our system. The assessment was carried out to provide information about any kind of potential sources of contaminants in the vicinity of our water wells. There are eight (8) potential sources of contaminants identified for this program with a low to moderate susceptibility level. The assessment answers are available on the FDEP Source Water Evaluation and Protection System website at www.dep. state. fl. us/swap or they can be acquired by calling Bob George at 239-283-0091 between 7 AM and 3: 30PM Mon through Friday. DRINKING WATER SOURCE DID YOU KNOW? In 2016, approximately 467 million gallons of water was allocated to our customers. The Board of Company directors of your Association always places fire hydrants on all recently upgraded lines like a community service. DRINKING WATER SOURCE The Greater Pine Island Water Association, Inc., as needed by regulatory companies, has undertaken business lead and copper screening of individual member’s tap water at numerous locations throughout the service area, inside the years 1994, 95, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016. Another required sampling will probably be in the year 2019. Our company is happy and happy to report that in each of the sample years zero samples were exceeding the most contaminant level intended for either lead or perhaps copper. To further safeguard our members coming from contaminants such as business lead and copper coming from leaching into your drinking water from piping and fixtures in your house, all of us add a corrosion inhibitor. This product also helps safeguard copper piping and metal fixtures within your house..
