Hi everybody! This is Craig the water guy. I hope you're doing well.
One of the things that you want to do before purchasing a water softener is to make sure that you size it properly. That is the #1 step to making sure that you get the proper water softener.
So it is working at peak performance and not costing you a fortune in upkeep and maintenance on the system. The more often the system regenerates the more it costs you.
So we have put this water softener sizing calculator together on our website. To make sure that you get the proper water softener for your needs.
So I'm going to show you how to use this water software calculator real quick. Down here below what you want to do is enter the number of people in your home. I'm going to the use example of 4 people living in the home full time. The 75 gallons is per person per day usage, which is the national average, usage per person between laundry, showers and stuff like that.
If you're on city water you're going to enter your hardness right here. Average city water runs around 15 grains, so I'm going to go ahead and use that as the figure for this demonstration. Now if you're well water, if you're on your own private well you're going to want to enter the iron content as well if you have iron in the water. You'll know if you have iron in the water because if you don't have a sort of filtration system or softener on your house now you'll get brown staining on your fixtures. So if that is the case you definitely want to get that tested. Then click here to see your choices.
You can either use test strips or have it professionally tested you get test strips and most hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowe's, True Value, or you can order our well water test kit here .
So you would enter your hardness here, but we're going to go ahead and stick to city water for that as most people are on city water. So based on these figures of 4 people at 15 grains per gallon of hardest on city water, the calculator is sizing you out at 32,000-grain capacity water softener. That's for peak performance has regenerated about every 7 days on average based on these figures.
So that if you have that figured you're going to go ahead and click on the recommendation and that's going to take you to the recommended water softener page, 32,000 grain capacity from there you just scroll down a look at the different information on each system that is offered. There are 4 systems here that you can choose from and each one has features and benefits and different prices for you.
You click on the shop now button on any one of these that'll take you to the page with that system which will give you more information that you can purchase it from there.
I hope that helps you out. Thank you for visiting us.
And healthy water to you and your family!
