    DESCRIPTION

Acidic water eats pipes. Calcite stops it.

Calcite media is crushed marble that neutralizes acidic water in a pH neutralizer tank. It raises your water’s pH to a safe 7.0, which protects your plumbing from corrosion and the blue-green stains it causes.

    • Self-limiting: stops dissolving once pH is neutral, so it doesn’t overcorrect
    • Naturally occurring and affordable
    • NSF certified
    • Four sizes: 0.5 to 2.0 cubic feet (45 lb bags)
    • 100% no-risk money-back guarantee
    HOW TO USE

Refill every six months. It takes minutes.

    1. Check your tank. Top up when it’s about half full. A family of four typically goes through one bag about every six months.
    2. Add the media. Leave 10 to 12 inches of space at the top so the media can lift and turn over during backwash.
    3. Reconnect and regenerate. Run a regeneration to rinse out the dusty fines.

    HOW DOES IT WORK

Acid meets calcite. pH goes up.

Acidic water usually has few minerals. When it flows through calcite, the media slowly dissolves and adds calcium carbonate to the water. That raises the pH to a neutral 7.0 to 7.1.

Once the water is neutral, the calcite stops dissolving. That protects your pipes, fixtures, and appliances from corrosion.

    What Real Customers Actually Say

    More About Calcite Media

Calcite limestone is used in pH neutralizers, also known as calcite filters. These are typically installed on well water or surface water applications where the pH balance runs below 7.0 (neutral) — meaning the water is acidic.

Acidic water is genuinely corrosive to plumbing over time. Galvanized plumbing will show red staining as the galvanized coating bleeds out from acidic water contact. Copper plumbing or brass fittings will bleed a bluish-green color around drains. Beyond protecting your plumbing investment, this matters for health too — you don't want to be drinking water carrying dissolved copper, lead, or other heavy metals leached from your own pipes.

    More Information:

The calcite filter installs after your pressure tank. As water contacts the calcite media inside the tank, it automatically raises the pH toward 7.0–7.1 (neutral) — and it's self-regulating, so it stops dissolving once neutral is reached rather than overcorrecting.
For an average family of four using it for household purposes only, expect to add one 50 lb bag roughly every 6 months. Irrigation use will increase consumption. If your tank is opaque, you can check media levels with a flashlight held against the tank to see the shadow line inside — once it's about 50% full, add exactly one 50 lb bag.
Put your system into bypass or manually trigger backwash mode to release pressure. Disconnect the tank from the bypass valve, pull it slightly away from the wall, and unscrew the control valve from the tank by hand. Use a small hose to siphon some water out first, so you have room to add media without overflow. Inside the tank, you'll see a distributor tube (PVC pipe) in the center — cap it with tape before adding media, then use a funnel to add calcite until you have 10–12 inches of "free bore" (the gap between the media and the top of the tank). Don't exceed that gap — the system needs that space to lift and turn over the media during backwash. When finished, remove the tube cap, clean the tank threads, reattach the control valve by hand-tightening, reconnect your plumbing, slowly reopen the bypass valve to let the tank refill, then run an automatic regeneration to flush out fine dust from the fresh media.
The manufacturer most commonly supplied is Imerys, though other brands may ship depending on supplier availability at the time — they all perform the same function, so don't be concerned if your bag doesn't say Imerys specifically.

    Coping With Acidic Water?

    Coping With Acidic Water?

Acidic water can eat your plumbing, causing leaks. No one wants to deal with water damage and toxic mold.

Raise the pH within your water from an acidic state to an alkaline, non-corrosive state of 7.0+ pH in your home and protect your plumbing.

That Dreaded Green-Blue Staining On Your Fixtures?

If you get blue or green stains on your fixtures or around drains, it's usually corrosive acidic water at work — pH below 7.0. That staining comes from your copper pipes deteriorating into your water and showing up on fixtures and drains.

Let this go on too long, and your plumbing starts leaking — potentially major water damage and mold, and a full re-pipe replacement. A quality pH neutralizer filter raises the pH to 7.0, a neutral, non-corrosive state.

    How To Filter Acidic Water

    How To Filter Acidic Water

Typically, when you have acidic water (low pH level), it means the mineral content is low in your water — minerals are what raise pH. Calcite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media with a self-limiting property. Applied properly, it corrects pH just enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium and doesn't overcorrect under normal conditions.

    How it functions:

When acidic water contacts the calcite media, it gradually dissolves the calcium carbonate to raise the pH and neutralize the water — helping prevent scale and the deterioration of rust, copper, lead, and other metals in your plumbing system.
