The SoftPro IronMaster AIO (1.5 cubic foot) is a chemical-free, air-injected iron filter built for well water. Its catalytic Katalox media removes up to 30 PPM of iron, plus manganese and sulfur, and raises pH above 7.0.

No chlorine. No permanganate. Just air and a very determined media bed.

Stains: evicted.

HOW TO USE
  1. Test your water for iron, manganese, sulfur, and pH.
  2. Measure your well pump flow rate. Your pump has to keep up with the backwash, so size the filter to your flow rate. Don't skip this one.
  3. Install after the pressure tank and ahead of your softener. Run the drain line and plug it in.
  4. Set the backwash. Every four days at 2 AM is standard.
  5. Let it run. The media typically lasts 3 to 10+ years, depending on your water and usage.
HOW DOES IT WORK

Dissolved iron and sulfur are invisible. To catch them, you have to oxidize them first.

During each regeneration, the IronMaster draws in an air pocket that sits at the top of the tank. Water passes through that air first, which starts oxidizing iron, manganese, and sulfur.

Next, it hits the Katalox catalytic media, which raises pH (oxidation works better at higher pH) and traps the now-solid particles.

Every four days, the system backwashes the gunk to drain and pulls in a fresh air pocket.

Rinse. Repeat. Rust-free.

More About Iron Issues : Excessive iron issues in your water is typically characterized by the ugly red or brown colored staining in your plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets and laundry.

With well water, iron typically occurs in a ferrous state. That means, the flowing water typically looks clear.

However, once the water is exposed to the air, the iron transforms into a ferric/ oxidized state. The clear water will turn red or brown and insoluble “rust” type material will form.

Iron staining can be easily caused by as low as only 0.3 milligrams per liter (mg/L).

💧 Check Your Well Pump's Effective Flow Rate — Easy as 1, 2, 3

Your well pump's flow rate determines the size of your water treatment equipment. Get it wrong, and you risk a system that can't backwash properly.

How to check it yourself, in 5 minutes:

1. Shut off all faucets — no running water anywhere.

2. Place a 5-gallon bucket at a hose bib near your well pump.

3. Fully open the bib until the pump kicks on.

4. Time how long it takes to fill the bucket.

5. Match your time against the flow rate chart to get your GPM.

Blue or green stains around your fixtures and drains usually mean acidic water — anything below 7.0 pH. If you have high iron and iron bacteria don’t hesitate:BUY THIS ! I know my pictures look a bit messy but that really doesn’t matter to me. This filter is the greatest. It was so easy to put in even in my tiny cramped outdoor pump house. I did it by myself in about an hour if you don’t count the time for pvc glue curing, and I’m a 54 test old woman and an RN not a plumber. I have both types of iron and iron bacteria in my well water. I had been using big blues with sediment, carbon, KDF filters and it was tolerable but didn’t take care of the iron bacteria. Now my horrible brown iron filled water problem is fixed, and the smell is gone. My water is crystal clear, and I’m so pleased with this product.

First let me say I installed this myself and I have some previous plumbing experience but just about anyone with some handyman skills could easily install this themselves. This filter works as advertised. We have well water and before the filter we would have to clean toilets sinks and showers every couple of days because of the iron buildup it’s been 2-3 weeks and absolutely zero rust anywhere and I can drink water from any faucet and there is zero bad taste. It’s amazing really! (If you’re installing yourself watch the video on YouTube on how to set up with all the proper inputs because there’s nothing in the instructions that tells you how and I would have never known otherwise)

I replaced an old iron filter that used potassium permaganate with the SoftPro Air Injection Iron Filter. The iron filter precedes a water softner. Installation was a straightforward swap with bonus I was able to remove the potassium permaganate brine tank. I selected the SoftPro AIO design because my well water has very high iron (20 ppm) and most iron filters cannot handle that. After installation I had our kitchen tap water tested by an independent lab and I was happy to see the levels of iron, maganese, lead and arsenic were effectively zero (none detected). I am also happy to eliminate the potassium permaganate hassle and increasing costs.

Living in the Blackhills of South Dakota is great, except for the high iron in well water. Had a cartridge pre-filter, larger cartridge filter, water softener, and still couldn’t drink the water. The water stained everything, appliances, sinks, toilets, even my wife’s blond hair! Installed SoftPro iron filter and problems are gone. We were buying bottled drinking water, and being curious I poured a glass of bottled water and poured a glass of water from kitchen faucet, and the faucet water was actually clearer! Only problem I encountered was tank must have been laid down and rolled around during shipping, and when I unscrewed cap on tank the distributor tube inside was stuck to cap and pulled up enough that I couldn’t get control unit to screw on. I called customer service and followed her directions and problem was solved. You should see my wife’s hair now!!!

It was an easy hook up for me I was replacing an 16 year old McClean water treatment system and the dimensions were very close. It is working great and is just what my house and well water system needed. I do want to say that the packaging of the tank and value assembly was pretty poor. They arrived at my house thru FedEx and came in two boxes that were taped together to cover the tank and a box that had the value in it. The value was packed ok but the tank had nothing to protect no packing material around it other then the thin cardboard box that by the time it got to my house was in pretty bad shape. In fact the fiberglass tank had a few chips in it. Shipping of a 1050.00 system should be better.
