Heads up: Filter-Ag isn’t an iron-removal media on its own. It’s great at trapping iron after it has been oxidized by aeration, ozone or chlorine.
HOW TO USE
Load it. Backwash it. Let it work.
- Put the system on bypass and drain the tank.
- Pour in the Filter-Ag media to your system’s recommended bed depth.
- Backwash to settle the bed and flush out fines.
- Return to service and keep up regular backwashes.

Filter-Ag media has numerous outstanding advantages over more common granular filter media used for suspended solids reduction. Its fractured edges and irregular surface provide higher surface area and a more complex flow path, allowing efficient removal of suspended matter throughout the filter bed — typically reducing suspended solids down to the 20-40 micron range.
Filter-Ag's light weight means lower backwash costs and better bed expansion, releasing trapped sediment and rinsing the media effectively during backwash.
Not designed as a dedicated iron reduction media — but in-depth field experience has shown Filter-Ag's rough, jagged surface to be genuinely good at entrapping the fragile iron flock that forms after dissolved iron has already been oxidized (typically via aeration, ozonation, or chlorination).
