DESCRIPTION
Iron has been camping in your softener. Time to evict it.
Pro Rust Out is a softener cleaner that chemically removes iron and rust build-up coating your resin bed. Normal regeneration doesn’t clear it all, so the iron builds up, fouls the resin, and your softener works harder for less.
Used regularly, it keeps the resin clean, cuts rust stains on fixtures, and extends the life of your softener. This 50 lb. bucket is built for repeat use.
HOW TO USE
Layer it in. Let regeneration do the rest.
- Add 4 oz. of Rust Out each time you add a bag of salt to your brine tank.
- Layer it between bags so it dissolves into the brine over time.
- Repeat regularly as preventive maintenance, not just when you see rust.
Have iron in your water? Ask about the well water formula.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Brine carries the cleaner. The resin gets the clean.
- Dissolve: Rust Out mixes into your brine tank with the salt.
- Reach: During regeneration, the brine carries it through the resin bed.
- Clean: It chemically breaks down the iron and rust coating the resin.
- Rinse: The system flushes the loosened iron away.
A cleaner resin bed means better softening and fewer rust stains.

Softener Rust Remover
Pro Rust Out softener rust remover chemically removes iron and rust build-up that coats the resin beds and fouls the softener. This iron build-up is not totally removed during normal regeneration of a water softener.
Using Rust Out softener rust remover in a water softener will eliminate rust and foreign matter from the resin bed, which increases the life of the softener and reduces rust staining on household fixtures and other surfaces.
We recommend using the softener rust remover regularly as preventative maintenance to ensure the softening and recharging efficiency of the softener's resin bed. Additionally, in applications where iron is present, you can use our well water formula to fight annoying rust stains.
- Cleans heavy iron build up in water softeners
- Use by layering 4 oz. between each bag of salt
- Maintains softener performance
- Great for cleaning rust stains in your home
- Extends the life of your water softener
