The town of Lake Mary's water supply comes from groundwater wells that pull water from the top Floridan Aquifer. Almost all wells supply drinking water to our single Drinking water Treatment Plant (WTP), which was named honouring former Commissioner Harry Terry who positively encouraged our Town to build its own service. The good drinking water is treated in the WTP with loaded tower air burning, fluoridation and chlorination before it is driven into the distribution drinking water mains that provide water to your home. This season we treated and distributed over one particular, 170 billion gallons, which averages to three. 208 million gallons daily. The City offers four water primary interconnections with Seminole County and 1 with the City of Sanford. We also provide a little quantity of water to Utilities, Inc. with an as-needed basis. These types of interconnects are available to make use of during fire events and system maintenance. In 2017 the Florida Department of Environmental Protection performed a Source Drinking water Assessment on our bodies. The assessment was conducted to provide details about any potential causes of contamination in the vicinity of the wells. There are two (2) potential causes of contamination identified with this system with a susceptibility range of low. The drinking water meets almost all Federal and Condition requirements.
