Initially, a group of French-Choctaw inception pursued the movement of the Choctaw Nation from the Valley of the Great River, the Mississippi. The Cherokee's voyage chronicled as "the Trail of Tears, feelings of anguish and demise," finished in a new nation west of the Territory of Arkansas and arranged between the Red River of the South and the South Canadian River of the north. The case stretched out west to Mexico, which is presently the eastern limit line of the northwest Texas domain generally known and called the "panhandle." Pierre Durant articulated DuRant in French, and his four children made the walk down the Mississippi while in transit to the southeastern piece of the Choctaw Nation in 1832. The siblings, developed, with groups of their own, set up properties from the Arkansas line to Durant. One child, Fisher, wedded to a full blood Choctaw, found an excellent area for a home between Durant's present Eight and Ninth Avenues. His child, Dixon Durant is perceived as the originator of Durant and is respected with his namesake. As an early day clergyman, specialist and municipal pioneer, Dixon Durant is credited with pastorates in neighbourhood Presbyterian, Congregationalist and Methodist holy places; foundation of the principal store selling general merchandise; and potentially affecting the 1872 erection of a Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (Katy Railroad) siding at Durant, in this way delivering the underlying catalyst for building up the network..
