Source Water Evaluation In 2017 the Florida Department of Environmental Protection performed a Source Drinking water Assessment on the systems. The evaluation was conducted to supply information about any potential sources of contamination near our wells. You will find three (3) potential sources of contamination recognized for the 1A system with a low susceptibility level, and nine (9) causes of contamination identified intended for the 2A program with a low susceptibility level. In 2017, FDEP performed a Source Water Evaluation for the City of Hollywood which provides drinking water for our 3A and 3B/C devices; there are thirteen (13) potential sources of contaminants identified for the 3A/3BC systems having a low to modest susceptibility level. The assessment results are on the FDEP Resource Water Assessment Safety Program website in dep. state. Florida. us/swap or they could be obtained from the City of Hollywood Water Top quality Division by getting in touch with (954) 921-3414. Treatment At the water treatment plant, the ground drinking water is initially cured with lime and ferric chloride to lessen hardness and color. During this step from the treatment process, chemical substances are added to ensure that most of the hardness and particles in the drinking water can be easily eliminated. Fluoridation Following treatment, fluoride is added for enhanced prevention of tooth decay. Purification Filtration is used following softening to further deal with the softened drinking water by removing the rest of the particulate matter from your treated water. Disinfection, which is the last treatment step, is usually accomplished by the addition of chlorine and ammonia, or else known as chloramines. A bit (residual levels) of chloramines disinfectant is usually maintained throughout the circulation system to control microbial regrowth. Dewatering Solids that payout during the treatment process are gathered and pumped into a settling basin, exactly where they are thickened. The thickened solids are pumped to a cleaner filter, which eliminates excess water.
