The town of Margate Division of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) is pleased to offer the 2017 Water Top quality Report, which summarizes our water top quality testing results and what they mean and in addition provides an overview of the water supply source and treatment; source drinking water assessment and safety; general health information which includes facts on business lead; and the water preservation programs promoted by City. Our objective is to always supply you with a safe and reliable supply of drinking water, so that as you will see from the outcomes provided in this statement, our drinking water stands up to all Federal and State regulatory requirements. Our continued advancements and hardening from the water system to endure hurricanes helped withstand Hurricane Irma without any major functional issues including simply no reported loss of to any of the residents or perhaps businesses in the Associated with Margate’s service region. The City continues to strongly pursue upgrades included in the five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to facilitate treatment and provider safe admissible water to occupants and businesses. Found in the calendar year 2017, the town has awarded an agreement to replace approximately 12, 000 linear ft of old drinking water main to be finished over 18 months. Alternative plans for an extra 22, 000 grading feet of drinking water main is in numerous stages of pattern which has construction anticipated to come from 2018. As part of the drinking water system security and redundancy improvements, the town entered into an agreement with all the Coral Springs Improvement District (CSID) intended for the design and building of a new crisis water system connect and with the City of Pompano Beach to update an existing interconnect. The interconnects facilitate flow of bulk potable drinking water to each other during times of any kind of temporary emergency. The interconnect with CSID is in construction as well as the upgrades to the Pompano interconnect are total. Other infrastructure tasks in the CIP intended for the water system consist of ongoing rehabilitation from the utility aerial crossings across waterways in a variety of parts of the City; regular rehabilitation of the City’s 12 raw drinking water wells; potable drinking water meter replacements and conversion to an automated meter reading program; and repair and replacement of process gear in the water treatment plant. Besides, the town continues to encourage almost all residents and businesses to 1) preserve water and make use of the tiered water prices, which allow for decrease rates for working with less water, and 2) take advantage of numerous rebates and drinking water conservation program bonuses promoted by the Town. In 2017, an overall total of 144 bathroom replacement rebates and 353 water keeping devices were released to the City residents and businesses through the City’s participation in the Broward County Water Partnership system (additional information intended for the program is offered on page 4).
